I'd rather get a prospect than a pick so it is less of a rebuild and more of a retool. Unless we move that pick for a player.

The only reason NSH doesn't have him in the NHL is they would rather have him playing top 6 minutes in the AHL developing than languish in bottom 6 minutes in the NHL. He is likely to get a call-up this season after the All-Stars and I imagine he will likely be in the NHL next season.</div></div>
Fair enough! Was just trying to find a prospect trade for Tarasenko rather than a pick. I'll keep looking

Seemingly dont know Samberg was that loved in WPG. Just saw he is playing 14 min a night on your bottom pair and thought Stanley could do that for you tbh.

3 way to clear cap with CBJ and SJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>Kubalik is a perfectly fine player. But bringing him doesn't help Columbus because there just isn't a roster spot. This is still a rebuilding year and the young players already there deserve the chance to show what they've got. They have no one left on the roster that can be sent down without waivers whom Kubalik would be an upgrade on, so bringing him in could also have an opportunity cost if whomever they'd waive is claimed. The roster has already gelled pretty well, with the same lineup for three straight games, two of which are wins over "better" teams. And that's not including Chinakhov is ready to come off the IR and there already isn't a roster spot for him, let alone bringing in an outside player.
Any Peeke trade has to be either part of a larger deal that brings in an honest upgrade on the top nine forwards (or goalie) slash also sends out forwards, OR a pure future that is not playing in either the NHL or AHL this year. And I'd guess that's why he hasn't been moved, because the league is cap strapped and any team looking to acquire him would need Columbus to take something back they don't have room for.</div></div>
Fair points. I just saw the backlog on the right side of your D and thought that was a bigger issue than winger depth but fair. I am just trying to get more creative with moving money out of OTTs roster that actually benefits teams. Cannot trade with PHI or their fans demand your next 7 firsts for taking on Joseph.

I like the idea of having a stud D on each pairing. Chycrun can slide to the ride side from time to time to get some extra time. This is sort of what Tampa did during their "dynasty". Pinto gets essentially 2 million with bonuses he should hit. Could even have a handshake agreement for an extension Jan 1 that's sort of 5mill for 5 years(ish). Very similar to LeBlanc in SJ,

It is extremely bare bones but it avoids having to move Joseph at a cost. Feels kind of nice to work with the cap ceiling and not the floor! Changes will be swift if this team struggles with Anlauer wanting his own people

But assuming this trade would happen, this gives a very good lineup. I'm not sure Minnesota would be ready to trade Rossi just yet though. He's still a Top-50 prospect
Okay then what about the same deal but I add a 2nd???

The PD comment is so on point lol
Tarasenko is a perfect shooter for the top line. Brady does the dirty work, Timmy does the playmaking and Tarasenko shoots. Thats what I meant by a bit of everything.

I guess that was my point was if he was thinking a bit greedier and wanted to bet on himself, I think he could make more money with this route. I know it is unlikely but, thought it would be interesting to look at and not mock trade him to Det or sign him for a year.

If they find that they can sign elsewhere for a higher AAV than sure, he'd be willing to be traded.
Cat wants to stay, loves the city and loves the team. But if a team is gonna pony up more than what Ottawa offered over 8 years, than he gone.</div></div>
That's why I thought he might be ok with going short term to make a tonne more cash (rebounding from a low year from him) and a rising cap. Allows him to hit UFA at 28 and make more than signing long term next year. If it is true he loves the area, he could test to see if he wants to stay, and make more money. Plus if he decides to leave, he could go somewhere before his kid is in school which Iknow some guys really care about.

The purpose of trading Yamo is to clear cap space and/or acquire a meaningful upgrade on him. Joseph fulfills neither criteria (unless you think 150k in cap space qualifies) and he even has 2 extra seasons on his overpaid contract. Retain at least 1mil and then maybe there's a discussion to be had but, on the whole, that just doesn't work on any level.</div></div>
I agree with you on this. Both teams would be trading these players to get rid of their salary.

I feel like Ottawa has done the same with JBD. Has big upside to be a great defensive D and thought ANH could use one. Was looking for a team with a surplus of younger bust type forwards to make the trade with and tried ANH for something new

I don't hate packaging Lassi and Joseph together but, I doubt ARI is unlikely to give up draft picks at this point in their rebuild. Maybe a team like Seattle with a guy like Tolvanin or Geekie with a pick coming back.
I also don't think Kleven will make the team next year to start and he might come up if there are injuries. He's fresh out of the NCAA and should be given some time to develop and play loads of mins in the AHL before being a bottom-pair D.
I would not break up Timmy and Brady at any point! I would maybe even slide Norris in on the RW on that line to see if that works. Give Norris an easier time than playing Centre and see if that can help him stay healthy.
