Draft Week Distraction
Maybe I’m crazy, but I don’t really understand the appeal of Josh Anderson. He’s a big dude who plays physically, but hasn’t scored more than 20 goals in a season other than once, and has a career high of 47 points like 4 years ago. He’s slightly more than a 0.5 point/game player with a 5.5 million dollar contract for a long time. Feels like the sens would be better off with the 7th OA pick, no? That Anderson contract would still be around when they need to give a huge pay raise to Stutzle, Sanderson, and bridge prospects picked in the next two years. Picking high now means they can surround Norris, Stutzle, Sanderson, and Chabot with cheap, high end talent when they all have big contracts.
I’m a leafs fan and don’t super remember anything Anderson did in the playoffs other than hit. It seems like he’s overpaid by 1.5-2 million until 2027, it’d be a big bet that he figures out something after being in the league for 7 years. I don’t watch the Canadiens regularly, though, so let me know if I’m off.

He's done with the Flyers but I agree with the contender statement
Also where did Pinto and several other young players go, they should be on the team.

CarsonN89 trade from a Sens POV
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wardbell92</b></div><div>I agree that choosing a player at 7 OA is within control but to say that no matter what that this player will be a major player on a team for the next decade as a fact is just not true. I am saying it holds a lot of value but saying that you dont want DeBrincat because 7OA and Lassi is guaranteed to better is a wild take (that was my point).</div></div>
Of course, It's not a fact as it didn't even happen yet. It's an opportunity. There will be FUTURE great players available at 7th OA, it's up to the team choosing to make the best choice possible
Like when the Sens drafted Karlsson 15th OA in 2008, he was the best possible choice at that spot, but the value of the pick was a 15th OA pick in that draft (it varies from draft to draft depending on how the market perceives draft classes)
I agreed with your post in general, just wanted to remind that fact about the pick's value. It's the same value regardless of what the team choosing is going to do. Could hit a homerun or strike out, it's in their hands.

Opening Night is Serving Pasta
A hell more than that?
- a 7th OA pick
- a prospect that is probably valued around that
- 10th OA pick from last year
But yeah the fact that Boucher was such a reach make people easily forget that he's still a recent first round pick. But even without counting Boucher, a 7th OA pick and a young player like pinto is already gigantic value, how much people think Pastrnak is worth if that is not enough
Always referring to Eichel's value
Alex Tuch vs 7th OA pick
Peyton Krebs vs Shane Pinto
2022 1st round pick (should have been "late") vs Tyler Boucher
2023 2nd round pick (VGK) vs nothing (ok add a 2nd too)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BruinsTalk</b></div><div>Boucher is a wild card. I think if you start a convo for Pasta, Sanderson would have to be a part of the conversation.</div></div>
I don't think the Sens have any desire to trade Jake, like the Stars wouldn't part with Heiskanen in their past discussions for Erik Karlsson.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lambchopz</b></div><div>Yeah bro he’s gonna cost a hell of a lot more than that. 7th overall and Pinto are very good but Boucher realistically ain’t worth much. I know people will say “bit he was a 10th overall pick”, but he really shouldn’t have been, at all. Realistically he shouldn’t have been a top 40 pick, no body had him ranked there, and his season was extremely disappointing.</div></div>
Yes, we are all very annoyed by the Boucher pick but the reference is always Bob McKenzie's list. He was ranked 29th

What price would you rather pay to move up in the draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>2 2nds to move up 1 spot Lmao, when the prospects are neck and neck.</div></div>
The Columbus deal is essentially just p*ssing two 2nds into the wind and it's still the best value proposition for Ottawa. 2nd overall being essentially Greig, Sanderson and say Lekkerimaki for a Slafkovsky which is just comical. I'm stunned that this is made by a Sens fan, and I'm pretty sure this isn't a troll post either lol.
You offer 7th overall pick, Sanderson and an unprotected 1st next year you can get basically any forward in the league, barring a handful of true untouchables. Or you could have Shane Wright lmao.

Dumping Zaitsev is an addition by subtraction move. DJ overplays him and he's brutal, getting rid of him to make space for the younger RHD (Thomson/JBD) is a net positive. Also, Sens don't spend to the cap, so imagine an internal budget of 80% what the cap actually is, and you need to trade Zaitsev to be able to allocate funds elsewhere

Doesn't sound like Brannstrom is going anywhere according do Dorion. Says the two sides are already working to get an extension done.
As far as Konecny is concerned I'd probably add Bernard-Docker instead, and at least another 2nd. I'd also be hesitant to move a 1st or established young roster player (like Formenton) for Konecny, but this isn't enough.
I figure Jarventie makes a lot of sense, Bernard-Docker is a no brainer given how weak the Philly RD side is, and a pair of 2nds is at least approaching a fair offer.

what would these guys cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DucharmetheDOMinator</b></div><div>Lafreniere + Lundqvist for Habs 1st this year + 3rd rounder
For boeser, they'd want barron, and habs wouldn't give it, so something like 1st Flames or Panthers + Ylönen is the only thing Habs do.
I can see a trade of White + JBD for Drouin + 4th
Roslovic for 2nd + Poehling + Struble
Dube for 2nd + Tuch
I can see Allen 50% retained + 5th for Yamamoto + Konovalov</div></div>
Drouin is not worth anything considering you don’t even know if he’ll play and he hasn’t been great when he has played. You might get a fourth or third for him at most. So the way I see it is White for Drouin with Montreal getting the better player and JBD for a 4th. That’s sad.

True but the problem is that as long as DJ has this toy to play with, he will. The team is substantially better with other options at D but Zaitsev keeps getting trotted out there. Seems Ottawa is looking to move the deal anyways, so just being realistic as to the cost.

Head and neck injuries are additive. They just get worse, and leave you more susceptible to further injuries. I think he might be coming to the end of the road. Just can't stay healthy.
Also what are you talking about, there was some serious contact on the Collison with Zaitsev. Was surprised he stayed in the game, which obviously should not have happened.

i think the fact hes trading the core of the roster of a b2b cup winning team and the words just for fun right in the title makes the point of this acgm pretty obvious
