<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Green4D4Again</b></div><div>Your 'Recency' bias also applies to Matt Murray in this matter. He's been inconsistent for more than 1 year and has had some serious health concerns along with being an RFA. Ottawa could go with Talbot, sure.

Korpisalo is just coming into his own, had a great playoffs, had great regular season numbers, is signed to a 2 year deal and is cheap. He's also remained somewhat healthy despite a LBI halfway through his breakout year.

Would it have made a difference if it was one of the 2nd round picks?</div></div>

In case I was unclear, I also think betting the farm on Matt Murray would be a bad idea. My point was that Murray at least has a large sample size of being a really good starter. Korpisalo has only really held a starter job for part of one season, and he was only average in the regular season.

If the reason Ottawa is looking at a goalie is because they have concerns about Nilsson, I don't see why Ottawa should be looking at a long term option in the first place. Get a guy who can take half the starts this year, and maybe be around next year depending in The play of Hogberg in the NHL and Daccord in the AHL.

For me, my top options would be James Reimer or Cam Talbot. They don't need remarkable, they just need good. Long term, I think they already have their guy. Hogberg or Daccord or Søgaard or Gustavsson, someone will make that decision clear in the next 3 years or so. Until then, they just need stopgaps.
