As a Nashville fan, I'd probably do that after the expansion draft. The cap hit for the 1st two years is a little more for us but it drops off for the last 2 seasons where it's just Colin White. Worth a roll of the dice for us if you ask me

Nugent Hopkins
Don't like the MIN deal at all.
Yes, Rossi will be very good, but he's yet to play a single AHL or NHL game.
Norris was AHL rookie of the year last season, and was 3rd in NHL rookie scoring this season while being a complete beast in the face-off circle.
Formenton, runner up for AHL rookie last season, was not out of place in the NHL this year and looked great defensively - which was the ONLY concern I had about him.
I just don't see the need for this trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_and_Sens_Fan</b></div><div>Getting Stepan for a 2nd round pick was a terrible move. Should have figured out he didn't want to play in Canada before the trade... Dorian has terrible asset management.</div></div>
I actually had a really good idea for a Stephan trade hear me out
NYR want another Center and have a Dman causing problems (Deangelo)
my proposal
:senators
Derek Stephan (50%) retained to Rangers
:rangers
Tony Deangelo (1mill retained) to Ottawa along with
2022 2nd round pick
Now before we go nobody wants Deangelo hear me out. He cleared Waivers so Ottawa can keep him on the Taxi Squad, send him to Bellville or give him a shot on the main rooster, and if he doesnt workout they can buy him out. Now I hear yah, why hes gonna be expensive, actually no. Deangelos buyout is actually really cheap. (1.3mill year 1, 300k year 2, and for 2 more years 800k). Wont Impact the sens in the future and they got 3 2nd round picks in 2022 to use in a trade or draft top talent.
In general this trade gets Ottawa a 2nd round pick, a usable offensive Dman, and lets Stephan go back to America

Lots of questionable moves. Pro-scouting is not Dorion's forte.
Also, happy anniversary of the Phaneuf trade!

3 way trade with Tierney - Bennett - Compher
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>Not sure why Ottawa does this, Tierney is pretty clearly the best player in this deal, and we're not getting any futures. Bennett's value also only comes in the playoffs (his style is more suited for when the whistles are pocketed) so I'm not sure why Ottawa would have any interest in him. I guess it would be nice to have a player that is at least giving 100% effort every shift despite not producing, that's an upgrade on some of our guys who are just being bad, or worse actively helping the other team, while not producing, but the value just isn't there for Ottawa imo</div></div>
Fair enough, good point about Bennett being most useful in the playoffs.
As mentioned in the comment just above yours I figure that Ottawa could get a pick in this trade, either from Colorado or Calgary (probably Avs). Maybe like a 2nd or 3rd. Or possible the Avs 2021 1st if Ottawa send a 2nd back. Would something like that work?

pretty brutal line combinations for this game in my opinion

This lineup is atrocious. The kids are ready, not playing them is stunting their development at this point. At the very least White and Galchenyuk are better than an AHL enforcer (Haley) and a couple 4th liners that have been playing terrible (Paquette, Anisimov).

i get the idea of not rushing the kids but what good does having a fully ineffective 4th line play

What's the average age of the lineup whitout Coburn and Anisimov? That's a pretty young team, but I like it.
Maybe I swap Watson with Abramov or play them 50/50.

Without Duke
If it's not Duke, I still think they add someone to play in the top six. I love Formenton, but I think he could use some more seasoning before he's totally NHL ready. I would probably start Stuetzle there instead, or I could see them scooping someone left in free agency.

Another GD goalie
Ottawa has been a good drafting team. I feel they have proven themselves well enough to not really question things just sit back and enjoy the wonderful work being done there. Sens were my fav team for many years and beginning to quickly grow on me again. Not to sound like a bandwagon jumper the Alfie situation has taken awhile to forgive.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Green4D4Again</b></div><div>Your 'Recency' bias also applies to Matt Murray in this matter. He's been inconsistent for more than 1 year and has had some serious health concerns along with being an RFA. Ottawa could go with Talbot, sure.
Korpisalo is just coming into his own, had a great playoffs, had great regular season numbers, is signed to a 2 year deal and is cheap. He's also remained somewhat healthy despite a LBI halfway through his breakout year.
Would it have made a difference if it was one of the 2nd round picks?</div></div>
In case I was unclear, I also think betting the farm on Matt Murray would be a bad idea. My point was that Murray at least has a large sample size of being a really good starter. Korpisalo has only really held a starter job for part of one season, and he was only average in the regular season.
If the reason Ottawa is looking at a goalie is because they have concerns about Nilsson, I don't see why Ottawa should be looking at a long term option in the first place. Get a guy who can take half the starts this year, and maybe be around next year depending in The play of Hogberg in the NHL and Daccord in the AHL.
For me, my top options would be James Reimer or Cam Talbot. They don't need remarkable, they just need good. Long term, I think they already have their guy. Hogberg or Daccord or Søgaard or Gustavsson, someone will make that decision clear in the next 3 years or so. Until then, they just need stopgaps.

No buddy. If you want to move a $7 m contract with 2 years on it then you will have to pay. It puts you in win now mode big time. Frees up cap space to chase a stud like Pietrangelo SO you will pay. ThNk you very much.

Dude the history of racism, homophobia, and just general crappy behavior is long and well documented. You can be of the opinion that it doesn't matter (I strongly disagree), but you can't just say that history isn't there.
Also I'm well aware of what Dorion said, I just don't think these trades are the way to go about it. I think there are players available that suit Ottawa's needs much better.
