I'm fine with moving guys along, but we to get more out of them. No way Caps just give Seattle Oshie, Hags, and Kempny for a 2022 5th. Make these moves make sense

He is great at killing penalties, and is fast, but paying him $2.75M is too much to have him stick around. So trade Hags and sign Perry? Perry would be an upgrade offensively compared to Hags. Panik has more of a ceiling than Hags and is younger</div></div>
I disagree Hags brings speed and good PK play. I think Hags is more worthwhile than Panik. Hags may not stay for the entirety of his contract, but I think he stays for now. Plus, Panik under-preformed all year. He was supposed to bring 3rd line scoring and he never did.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AllCaps_BestTeam</b></div><div>This doesn't help the bottom 6 scoring either...actually makes it worse. Having only 3 players score in a playoff season needs to be addressed
If trading someone, need to trade Hags, not Panik. And bring in someone like "Jesper Fast" type player for the third line and a "Derek Grant" type solid 4th line versatile player. Or a "Tobias Rieder" type player would be a great add who is cheap and dominate on the penalty kill.
I like signing Khudobin, but for that term, you could get him in the 2.75M range I think.
Thanks for not blowing up the whole team, as everyone wants to do.</div></div>
It helps for the salary cap. With the expectation of a flat salary cap for a few more years, the Caps need as much space as they can get. Panik and Perry and essentially the same player, but you can get Perry cheaper. Panik under preformed and costs too much to have him stick around
I looked at Fast, but I ultimately think he'll re-sign the Rangers or another playoff team

But are these trades really worth not having a pick until the 4th round in 2020. And not having 2nd and 3rd's in 2021 and 2022? The answer is NO. Keep those picks and draft quality players to develop into the next Cup winning Capitals

WOAH! Hold on there. This is NOT the way the Capitals should go. Trading away all these draft picks will damage us in the longrun. Right now the Capitals need to use these draft picks to re-stock their prospect pool. The Cap's prospect pool is not looking good right now. The Caps should focus on using these draft pick to draft high quality prospects.
Not to say that changes don't need to be made or shouldn't be made. But they'd be better off trading roster players for roster players .
Draft picks are the future, don't get rid of them like candy

I agree. But looking at the available UFA goalies I think he is the most realistic for the price. That is why I signed him

It's not pointless. Kuznetsov could still get suspended. Remember last year with Nate Schmidt. He got a harsh suspension for low levels. It is just a hypothetical in case he does.

There is no way the Caps trade Kempny at this stage. Maybe, MAYBE in 2-3 years. But the Caps cannot afford to lose a defenseman.
Unfortunately, the Caps will probably have to send players down and hope they clear waivers (if they can afford them...)

I totally agree. A lot of people keep signing him to long-term, big money contracts. I think a bridge deal is good. It saves money, and will prove he is worthy of a 5-6 mil contract.

I really like what you have done. Keeping the guys we need, adding assets, etc. the only things I don't agree with are Vrana's contract, not keeping connolly and Burakovsky trade.
when it comes to v's contract, i think it is way too much. yes, he is good, and will get better. But as of now o think a 2-3 year bridge deal would be smarter. Plus you can use that 2 million to see if Connolly will stay for less.
as for the burakovsky trade, i am not totally against it, but i think it will come down to how he preforms the rest of the year and in the playoffs. So I am not totally against trading him, but if it is between trading Burkie, but keeping dowd and haglien, or keeping bura but losing haglien and dowd. I would go with the latter.

Obviously he's a player who has a bigger effect than just points, and that's fine, but you don't give 'energy' players big money contracts, even if you have them playing on the top line. the Leafs wouldn't sign a guy like Zach Hyman to a huge money deal just because he plays with 34-29.</div></div>

O.K. hold on... I already explained Why he EARNED this contract. Tom Wilson does so much for this organization. Tom Wilson is more than a "energy guy". As I said I can't do anything to change the opinion of people who don't see him play day in and day out. This contract is not a mistake, a mistake would have been not to resign him.
