I typically don't engage in online trash talking. Even though I am a Sens fan, I think Bergeron is the best all around player in the NHL. Hoping the Bruins do well next year.

Agreed they were good for the team. My point is that Bruins fans a couple of years ago were in despair over the state of their team and it turned out just fine. The same will happen in Ottawa. It's cyclical.

Relax Sens Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BreKel</b></div><div>Lol. I’d panic as a Sens fan. What a dumpster fire with no end in sight. How are Melnyk’s days numbered? He owns the team. It’s his. Unless he breaks rules, they can’t force the team from him. It’s only going to get worse. Buckle up!! Hahahahah</div></div>
To be clear, it is Melnyk's team until he decides to sell the team. My opinion is that he will cash out in the next few years. And yes it's a dumpster fire today, but the Bruins looked like one as well only a few years ago. The Seguin trade to Dallas, the Lucic trade to LA, Hamilton being shipped to Calgary, Pete Chiarelli being fired, Don Sweeney's supposed incompetence as a GM, missing the playoffs from 2014-16. It might get a bit worse for the Sens, but the team is loaded with prospects and have a good foundation of vets to contend again in a few years.

*Salary cap should be $79 million not $7.9 million! And McCormick cleared waivers and was buried in the minors even though it published as our #1 PP centreman.

I am admittedly a terrible judge of the value of other teams' players and a classic over-valuer of Senators players. Does Hoffman/2nd land a TJ Brodie type player instead?

Trading to Respectability
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMac66</b></div><div>I like that you brought up korpisalo. I think the jackets are going to let Bob go and have Korpisalo as their #1 in a couple years. He seems to be taking the standard slower development route for goalies so I don't think the jackets would trade him.
Grubauer I have way more faith in. He has been a good backup for years unlike darling who was good for just under 2 years. I'd love the sens to get him somehow. He's 28? I think. And should be serviceable for at least 3 years. But do we trade Anderson? I kind of think the organization is very committed to him.
Obviously I think Gustavsson needs more time but he seems very good. And who know maybe he's not even that far away. So do we stick with AndyCon for 2 years and hope Gustavsson can slide in with a vet back up? Or do we get a guy like Grubauer to extend his development?
I think I'd rather have Gruby but that's a lot of moving parts</div></div>
Best case scenario is that the team doesn't overreact and Andy/Condon (along with our entire d core) have a bounce back next year. Despite the doom and gloom around the Sens, the primary reason they fell so short this year is the massive increase in goals against. We actually scored 9 more goals than in '16-17, but allowed 77 more (214 in '16-17 to 291 in '17-18)! Almost a goal a game more this year. Total disaster. Surely that has to improve next year.
I love Grubauer but will there be a bidding war for his services? I'm from Belleville and got to see Hogberg and Gustavsson play this year. Hogberg isn't an NHL goalie in my humble opinion. Gustavsson is really impressive and Sens fans should be really excited for him in a few years.
Maybe the short term solution isn't in the net. Perhaps the team needs to shore up the d core? I hope they extend Karlsson, Chabot continues to improve, Wideman and Wolanin offer a decent 3-4. Ship Ceci or sign him short term to see if he can play in the NHL? Harpur was terrible in Belleville. Jaros could make the leap.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMac66</b></div><div>I think the Saros deal would be the next Scott darling contract. I don't mind him as a back up, and he's a decent goalie. But when he gets overwhelmed he has a lot of movement and gets massively out of position. There are just better options out there imo</div></div>
That's my concern w/ Saros as well. Grubauer / Korpisalo...same concerns? Do you just suck it up for 2 years until the Anderson/Condon deals expire.
We've got a great prospect in Gustavsson, and Anderson has been perhaps the best goalie in Sens team history. Trying to figure out how they bridge the gap over the next few years.

So I think a Ceci + Hoffman for Ekholm and Fiala is more than fair</div></div>
Agree with you. I think a Ceci/Hoffman for Ekholm/Fiala deal is pretty even. Admittedly the addition of Saros for Condon is wishful thinking.
