MTL isn't trading away a 25 yr old winger who is entering his prime and had 8pts in 8GP for a 36yr old winger.

I don't know man. I wouldn't give up Suzuki for Dubois right now. Dubois is really good, but if Suzuki was involved in any deal it would have to be for someone even better than Dubois.
If I'm Montreal I offer KK plus, not Suzuki.

Literally the perfect opportunity for a team to offer sheet Cirelli. COVID cap + GM's being boring won't let it happen though sadly.

Gunler was taken in 41 Perrault way down at the end of first round and Reichel was a big reach from CHI. There were better players at 16 and Guhle was one of them.

Maybe Tatar is the one to be dealt. highest cap hit and probably has the most value out of the 3 guys dealt</div></div>
Yeah but switching Tatar for Hoffman would be a lateral move (even if different kinds of players). Better not mess with the chemistry anymore with all the new additions already. Hoffman also has a reputation not been the best teamate also.
Bergy knows when to stop. Let see if there is a season first, and the team makes the playoffs second, and then add some firepower at the TDL.

He was on pace for 53 points this year and has been on pace for 50 three times in his career. He showed real talent back before the Kings started getting bad and in his short tenure with a different team he put up a point per game. You're either sleeping on his potential a good bit or you're just hating because the Leafs didn't get him.

I’m a little late to the party, but I love this signing. Toffoli is exactly the kind of player we need, and the money & term is extremely reasonable. Our top 9 probably looks like:
Tatar - Danault - Gallagher
Drouin - Suzuki - Anderson
Toffoli - Kotkaniemi - Armia
Which is pretty nice. Not to mention Byron & Lehkonen are on the 4th line. Now all we need to do is trade Jordan Weal (and maybe Brett Kulak, but only for value) and we’re sitting pretty.

-Out of all the goalies available, who signed a one-year deal, which is what we needed?. It's not like we gave up the moon for Allen either.
-The fact that he brought in every single pieces that we were missing while only giving up one valuable pieces that was a surplus proves a lot about Bergevin.</div></div>
The players themselves aren't busts, but the returns were. CBJ got a better and cheaper player and pick to boot in that exchange. Spending a 5th for Edmundson wasn't really necessary.
But as you said, let's wait and see what's coming next. I myself aren't that convinced about Bergevin for now...

Playstation Moves Let me dream
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wi55em</b></div><div>$5.5M !??!?? For a player which is suspected to be a 3rd pairing center - and remember he did got 50 points playing alongside Gallagher (30 goals) and Tatar (leading scorer) which are our best two wingers. His numbers ARE GOING DOWN as early as next season. I would see him as a Lars Eller type of player with more speed.
NOTE: We still have Poehling on $900k cap space which has the potential to be better than Danault.. I prefer to bet on Poehling and live with his inexperience for a couple of years than risking losing assets because of cap space and spending 5M on Danault.</div></div>
Points are going down....he had 47 in 71 games. Im willing to bet that he would have gotten 3 points over a 10 game span....
You want to say bye to Danalt because you might have to pay a really good center over 5 million for 4 years....and then let Peohling be the 3rd line guy? Peohling is a fine prospect, but he played mostly in the AHL last season and wasnt even that dominate. 13 points in 36 games isnt terrible but why push him to be more then he is...ask Edmonton how that system works.
I just dont understand why we hab fans are willing to let him walk because he deserves 5 million then to cry 2 season later when we need that exact player to help insulate the younger players.
Either way, its my opinion, I just like having solid players around younger player to help them develop.

Why are you cap dumping Alzner instead of just trading away Weal and just taking a minimum wage guy/prospect as our 7th dman?
Trading for 3 guys that need to be signed next summer would be dumb, twelve guys in your starting line up would need to get paid and with a flat cap it's not doable.

If Lehkonen had no defensive game I'd agree with you. but Lehkonen is still the Habs best defensive forward hands down. Someone who can play on your 1st PK unit, never be a nuisance at 5v5 and still net you 30pts a season, is young and cheap is precisely worth x2 2nds.

The Light at the end of the tunnel 1st Pick
I can’t see the Blues accepting. I mean the chances of them finding players as good as Allen and Dunn with those picks is incredibly slim. Sure they need cap space, but Dunn will be pretty cheap given his role this year and Allen will not be hard enough to move that it would cost Dunn.

Road to the Playoffs
I think the road to the playoffs is a tough one for the habs. They're in such a tough division. They aren't finishing ahead of Boston, Tampa, or Toronto, so they're fighting for a wildcard spot. So they're going to have to finish ahead of two of Washington, Pittsburgh, NYI, Carolina, Columbus, and Florida, who I think will be much improved. That's just a tall order. It's likely that Boston and Tampa will take a step back in a couple years, and that should be Montreal's time to pounce.
