Cap management is all good
I would prefere Tatar over Danault... I just think we would be better with keeping talent and scoring skills over defensive skills.
I don't underestimate Danault's impact on the team but i think MAYBE Poehling (in 2 years) or an old vet with experience can do 50% of Danault's job on the 3rd line.
EDIT: I really like the lineup tho !

Taylor Hall
I wouldn't trade Tatar to a direct rival in the same division. And signing Taylor Hall also means that either Danault or Gallagher have to go. I would trade Danault before his last contract ends so we get something in return at least.

Edmundson was a mistake
Yeah I never doubted that Ben Chiarot was a good pick last summer however I doubted both Alzner and Edmundson's contracts when they happened... I'll give the last guy a chance to prove himself but It just looks like the critics on Alzner's game in Washington are the same for Edmundson in Carolina - slow and not a threat offensively.

Drouin
I don't think Edmonton needs a guy like Drouin. Yes he is talented and will play really well alongside McDavid however I cannot see this being successful on 82 games or during playoffs when hockey gets rough. Drouin is fragile and won't create space for McDavid.

Why would Detroit accept this trade ?
At least a 1st pick has to be sent to Detroit.
Note: Pacioretty was worth Tatar, Suzuki (1st pick the year prior to the trade) and a 2nd round. Now compare Pacio to Mantha and ask yourself if what you're offering is equal or better to what we received for Pacioretty.

Like is it unrealistic that he should be in the top 7 votes for the selke every year for the next 5 years?
no?</div></div>
$5.5M !??!?? For a player which is suspected to be a 3rd pairing center - and remember he did got 50 points playing alongside Gallagher (30 goals) and Tatar (leading scorer) which are our best two wingers. His numbers ARE GOING DOWN as early as next season. I would see him as a Lars Eller type of player with more speed.
NOTE: We still have Poehling on $900k cap space which has the potential to be better than Danault.. I prefer to bet on Poehling and live with his inexperience for a couple of years than risking losing assets because of cap space and spending 5M on Danault.

Why would Detroit accept this trade ?
$9M for Taylor Hall... I know he got the Hart a few years ago but excluding that year he's more likely to be a PPG at best.
Lehkonen is amongst the best 3rd line shutdown guy you can find in the NHL. Yes he struggles offensively but I would trade Byron before even thinking of Lehkonen. And plus.. you trade him for a center - in which we already have a lot. Heck we are trading Domi because we can't find him a place at center in our lineup

Im not giving them away for free. I should have said "Sell them" instead of ship them to not confuse people. I definitely don't think they are worthless. Danault should have a really good return in terms of picks or bottom 6 player. Byron too but his contract is big.

Anything below that price Detroit would refuse. You have to pay for a talented 6'5 guy like him and I think that's what Montreal really needs right now. We have so many picks and prospects (whether they are good or not is yet TBD) however I don't want Montreal to keep waiting when Price and Weber are getting older and past their prime.

That's the point you know.. I think Poehling can do 50-60% of Danault's job for a lot less ! Plus Poehling is the future. Danault is certainly going to be an issue along the way if we secure him for too long and with big money. Even as a short term deal... Danault is not a player you give $4M+ and be happy to hold him on a 3rd line.

Weal a 3rd and a 4th is an obsolute joke for Puuljujarvi. I doubt he would traded when his value is that low. Edmonton would keep him and risk losing him for nothing rather than trading for what you offer. Ken Holland said he expects him to be there at training camp for the 2020-2021 season and sign an NHL contract beforehand.

Realistic 2020-21 Roster Who Do You Think Were Drafting at 16
I hope we don't get to draft at 16... Really. At this point, I prefer any pick between 28-31. We need to be in a final.
Fair deal for Domi. I don't know if he will stay a habs even though we love him a lot.
The lineup isn't that good to be honest. Its a fragile top 6. It can do a lot of damage if Drouin shows up. Drouin showed how magical and how he can litterally be a game changer when he's playing well. However he never shows any consistency on his game so far. Its one good game next to a 100 bad games,
Also, our lineup needs a goal scorer. We have to help the young centers to improve by giving them top 6 player on the wings. It needs a Max Pacioretty there. Caufield ? Still young and we don't know yet if he will fit in the NHL with his height.

Major Off Season Shakeup Montreal - Leafs Side
6M and 4 years for Petry ?? He's really good but even Montreal is not interested into keeping him at this price seriously. We already have an aging Weber with a huge contract. We don't need another one with Petry. If he wants to stay in Montreal, he should look for a 4-5M/3years contract.

Montreal dont need another LW.. and Perreault is overpayed. For Weal and a 4th round pick ? Its interesting but Montreal dont have money to put on LW anymore. They already have Drouin 5.5M, Tatar 4.8M, Byron 3.4M and Lehkonen 2.4M.
Even while being packed at LW, Claude Julien has switched Domi for some games at LW cause he lost his spot at center to Suzuki. He's currently playing vs Penguins as 4th line center. Montreal wouldn't be interested into takin Perreault and his cap.

I would have swap Drouin and Lehkonen. Drouin's experience at RW with Montreal wasn't good while Lehkonen has proved to be a better fit.
Also, it would give KK and Danault's lines a better offence/defense balance.

Drouin is definitely not going to be traded. After losing Sergachev for him, Bergevin (or any GM that might replace him in the future) will want to give him chances and chances.. Only if an amazing offer is settled, Drouin will most likely stay in Montreal until the last year of his contract.

I really like the lineup !! However having 4 completely new lines from left to right is really going to mess around the chemistry of the team.
I came here to see if I wasn't the only one thinking that Danault can't and is not living up to the expectation he set during regular season. Playoffs are a different game and he can't play the same way. A third line is exactly where he needs to be.
Its way to ridiculous seeing how Max Domi was put on a 4th line with Weise and Weal so I agree we should see him higher. I don't know if KK is ready to take #2 spot. BUT WE HAVE TO TAKE THAT RISK. As you mentioned in the title "it won't happen"... probably. Cause Julien is tough on KK. Even with 2 goals in 2 games he has around 12:05 ice time..

hahahaha but like I said in another comment Dunn can and should be worth a 1st pick. Playing with cap space (because Blues are tight) It might be interesting for MTL.

Sure they need cap space, but Dunn will be pretty cheap given his role this year and Allen will not be hard enough to move that it would cost Dunn.</div></div>
I agree with you a bit. I think Dunn should and can be worth a 1st pick. However, St-Louis needs to find a team that can take Allen and his 4.3M completely and I think Montreal has both needs. They need LD and cap space. If 2 second round picks aren't enough, what would you give ?

Finally, mete is not dog ****. He made the NHL so young and he ´s a decent 5th D for now . I this believe he can be a good 4th D on the second pair... which is good
I agree we could find a younger player instead of kovy.</div></div>
Mete is not dog ****. Never said that. But he is not improving in the NHL right now. He either has to be traded or goes back to Laval (I think he might have to pass the waivers at this point which is bad). It depends how Romanov ends up playing. If he's really good, Mete's job is probably done with MTL. Otherwise, Romanov might go for a few months in the AHL. And then come back at the middle/end of the season to take Mete's job. I just see Romanov as a young LD and Mete as another young LD and only one of them is going to get to play.
