I think he'll eventually take the starting job from Binnington during this contract

Wow this is a steal. Our best defenseman by far. He was good last year with Risto as his partner, which says a lot

Canucks get Bear Canes get LW depth to help replace Patches
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>spockrock</b></div><div>What benefit do the Canes get by trading Bear for a more expensive player that they have no need for?
That shouldn’t be too hard to grasp.</div></div>
Injuries happen all the time. Having depth is a good thing for a team wanting to make a cup run. They have the space to take on an additional $1 million. The Canucks are giving up a draft pick for the Canes to take on that space (if you want to bump it to a 2nd, fine). I fail to see how this trade hurts the Canes at all.

Wow you really think they'll get a 1st or 2nd rounder for a guy who might be non-tendered next summer...that's completely irrational

Pearson's actually good at hockey, not just a cap dump...Bear can't even crack the lineup

They could actually get something for Blackwood from another team. They wouldn't give him up for nothing, even if they wanted to replace him with Campbell

You're not getting Blackwood for Campbell's UFA signing rights. Most you could get for those is like a 6th or a 7th

Yep. One team needed the space and the other needed to reach the floor. It's a win-win

Do you want to win the Cup or not? Tampa gave up a first for Barclay Goodrow. Great teams know when they have to go for it

Sundqvist is just a throw-in for cap reasons, though he's a decent bottom 6 forward. The main pieces are Neighbours and Perunovich (two A-level prospects) and the 1st rounder. That's the rumored asking price for Chychrun
