Operation Save Patrick Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pond_Duck</b></div><div>Well cap wise your right, but a contender would make more sense. But I understand flat cap, contenders=no cap.</div></div>
I think Montreal could theoretically work if they show they are for real this year. But it would push them right up against the cap and they would have to sacrifice a lot of depth to make it work. Also would take them out of the PLD sweepstakes

Operation Save Patrick Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pond_Duck</b></div><div>So, lemme get this straight:
In your mind operation save Kane would be to send him to the kings?! I’m on board with the whole operation, I agree #FreeKaner, just not to the kings.</div></div>
I just figured it was the best fit given the cap crunch in the league right now with the flat cap. It's hard to find a team that would be able to take on a $10 million contract. It may not be this year, but the Kings will be competitive soon. So many great prospects on ELCs.

Operation Save Patrick Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MMXD</b></div><div>Certainly wont get you Kane. A. They arent taking Brown, B. This is Kane, this will take multiple firsts and prospects, not something that will be a lottery (and could be low since you're adding Kane), and a second. Vilardi is nice, but they will want much more</div></div>
That's why I said it's a start and not the final package. I personally think it would take another first and blue-chip prospect at least. More wanted to float the idea out there and see what people thought of the fit in LA

How to fix the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Don't know why you think Spezza, Thornton and Dermot. aren't NHLers, especially at their very modest cap. Simmons I'm not sure and Bogosian...you're right not an NHLer.</div></div>
Don't take the actual transactions that seriously. The overall point is that they should be playing the talented youth and should stop relying on these plodding veterans who are hurting more than helping.

Some thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>its weird how Toronto and Pittsburgh have managed to create 2 amazing 3rd lines yet one of there top lines is struggling. In Penguins case Malkin and in Torontos case Matthews
with no pre-season it sort of makes sense but for the coaches its time to whip these boyz into shape</div></div>
In Toronto's case it's easy to explain. They put a 41 year old man on the left wing and have expected him to keep up with Marner and Matthews lol

I don't put it all on Jarry. Their defense has been horrifically bad. Pair that with a great Flyers attack and he's been hung out to dry

He's an upgrade over Tarasenko at this point given Tarasenko's shoulder issues. Great deal for the Blues

100 Roslovic trades already and 98 of them are ripoffs. Lol.
At least you did not buck the trend.</div></div>
Well Teply's stock has been on the rise. I was afraid Hawks fans would berate me if I included one of their better prospects lol. And even on this one it seems like a lot of them still feel this is an overpay

Nyquist to LTIR opens things up for CBJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Name one that has happened in the last decade. One instance of a player signing a contract off a standard entry deal that takes them directly to UFA without buying out any UFA years. I can save you some time. Hasn’t happened.
I think it’s only happened once since the cap was put in place, and that was because it was an offer sheet.</div></div>

I think he could bargain his way into that. You're seeing more of those contracts for RFAs these days.

He was their fourth goalie last year. He fell behind Vanecek. That contract can easily be buried they have no real need to play him.

Can't hurt to bring him in at league minimum for some depth and competition. Vanecek and Copley have yet to establish themselves as legitimate NHL goalies. Howard was at one point, and maybe he can find his form again playing behind a much better defense.

Maybe. I just hate the idea of giving bottom 6 forwards that much term. They're very replaceable and they can fall off fast

Most overpaid team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>deys3232</b></div><div>As a Canucks fan, Loui gets too much hate for being overpaid
Jay Beagle's contract is way worse. Loui stil provides a decent amount of value (still overpaid)
Beagle's only value is winning faceoffs. Hes a complete liability everywhere else. He should be here over a guy like Sissons whos not even overpaid
And gardiner isnt as overpaid as Brady Skjei
Also Duchene has a lot of term, but is not overpaid at the moment.
Keller and Suter should be here as well</div></div>
It's more of the term for Sissons. 6 years left at a pretty decent cap hit for a career bottom 6 forward. It has AHL burial written all over it.

That's why he's honorable mention. There honestly aren't a lot of goalies who are grossly overpaid. But Fleury is a $7 million backup now, even if he's still pretty good
