Petro
If Petro walks, I think Blues fans would be 100% fine with his choice to cash in. We got a cup, he did his job for us. He'll be a legend in the city. Hell the fans applaud and welcome back players with open arms that left on alot worse conditions. There's a reason we have one of the best alumni affiliations and involvement in the community. Alot of players relocate to St.L because of the fanbase.

Edit: finally saw it said allen and bozak, therefore I mean steen</div></div>
I gotcha, makes sense now.
While it would be admirable of Steen to retire or waive his NTC to help the team, I can't see him doing that. He's making great money, he's on a winning team, and is beloved by fans. Why waive that to potentially spend your twilight years on a losing club? no tie to the city and fans (unless it's Winnipeg). He's going to be able to retire and end his career the way he wants, which few players get to enjoy. Would I love to see his contract off the books? Yes. Yes a 100 times but I can't see it happening. But 100% agree on Bozak/Allen gone.

I'd stop chasing stars and try to build four lines instead of two. That would be a smart move in the right direction, ey toronto fans?

The worrying is ridiculous. The Scandella signing ($3.75) is a mere wash with him taking over for Jbou's $3.25. It will have zero effect on if Petro resigns.

If theres a compliance buyout it has to be Faulk

I agree with this 100%. A couple years ago, fans were ready to ship off Schenn but failed to realize his PP time was reduced from the prior season. Certain players flourish in the PP system, and I believe Faulk is one of them.

Faulk hasn't been impressive but I need more of sample size to determine if it's a failed experiment/bad contract. Ofcourse his style was going to change coming from another system, he's hardly on the PP unit with diminished minutes and you wonder why his offensive production is down.

No one in their right mind is going to give any player that amount given the current status of the league. Looks like Petro won't be playing hockey next year then lol. There's too much uncertainty with the cap status to be throwing around bloated mega contracts.

This is what I've been talking about. No one knows what the NHL will be like when it returns to operation. Until there is a cap number released, it's all speculation. If the cap remains the same or lowers, Players may choose to take short term deals in hopes to cash in when the cap goes up.

Anything is possible. If Petro takes a discount of $7.25m, why not stay with a team that's won a cup, is the current captain and where your family is from?

And none of that screams a guaranteed turn of events. Sign a high profile starting goalie to a big contract, how is that looking for Florida? Hope your 1st overall pick speeds up the rebuild and is your franchise savior, hows that working out for the Devils? Lots of hopes and dreams in that post. While anything is possible, let's come back down to earth. Holtby is barely able to stay afloat with a super talented club in Washington, that's your solution in Detroit?

That was also before the shut down occurred right? May have remorse now. Even if the cap stays where it is (or lowers) what teams will be able to throw that kind of money at Petro? None of them are contenders. If he's fine having one cup and a fat wallet, then good for him. We may see unprecedented action during free agency. Players may sign short term deals and wait for the following year to cash in. It's not unheard of for players to do this - look at the last lock out for example.

It's looking more and more likely that the Faulk trade/signing was to prepare for Petro to eventually leave. Blues have painted themselves into a corner for sure. Nothing is for sure until it's official, but it'll be a struggle to keep Petro unless he takes a hell of a discount and the Blues are able to unload Allen/Bozak. Keep in mind, they still have to resign Dunn.

People always fail to realize that Petro's wife is from St. Louis and they have three small children. While money talks, it's not always the deciding factor. If Petro walks, that's fine. We got our cup and we have a solid defense with some nice prospects in the minors. Not overly concerned.

Do It
It's so interesting to see ACGM's constantly involve Blues players - then when they get roasted, their fans belittle the opposing team and continue to hype their own talent. This is a recycled narrative around this area. It's great to be invested in your team and show pride but those very things are what's killing your chances at a cup. Your mgmt is drunk off their own koolaid. Teams don't just trade established cornerstones of the franchise for giggles. Stop chasing after other teams stars, work on getting your own to mature and settle for picking up low hanging fruit to add depth. Fixed your problem.

How much would these D Men Cost
Borts is such an undervalued player. As a 7th dman, he's absolutely done everything that the team has asked of him and more. If you need to add a shot blocking, hard hitting dman, he's always giving it his 100% every game. He's not untouchable but the Blues would have zero reason to let him go in a senseless trade.

Simple offseason
Many people have attached Bozak and Buffalo in the past as they continue to look to improve their top 6. Not sure if there's any interest on Buffalo's behalf but I could certainly see Bozak being moved, just not sure what teams are on his list.
Allen to Minnesota doesn't make sense at all, he will have many other opportunities that will better suit his skill set and the Blues needs. If Allen is moved, it'll be for a draft pick, not another goalie in exchange. The Blues would look to add a veteran goalie - see their recent past with Johnson, Hutton, Elliott etc - looking to jump start their careers or provide minimal coverage splitting time with Husso (possibly).

Blues Offseason
Allen is worth more than a 5th. I could see him going for a late 2nd (highest) or mid 3rd (lowest). There's so many teams that could use his services, it just depends if the Blues are willing to lose a decent backup for that return.
There is absolutely no way that Steen approves a deal to a team like LA. I could only see him waiving his clause if he had a chance to go back home to Winnipeg, other than that, he means way more to the Blues for his leadership. If St. Louis is going to cut payroll, they will look at Bozak in the off-season.
