<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Patrickkane</b></div><div>What if the 2nd was swapped for Torontos 3rd next year?</div></div>
Its hard to gauge for me. Myers is obviously someone that all Nuck fans want gone. With retention, teams may be more inclined to take on his contract. If im Seattle I would target someone else. I would not trade Geekie for a guy who is beyond over paid for the 3rd pair. Trading Geekie and a 2nd from this year might be more understandable if they were to get a much better and stable piece back.

While this defense looks beyond threatening physically, no way Myers is worth Geekie and a 2nd from this year. Nor would I deal either of those assets for Myers

Im not sure. Injuries are sometimes a good thing for a team. While Binningtons behavior makes me like the blues less, I still really like this team. If Thomas, Kyrou and Buch can keep this team barely above water, I think Army doesnt budge and they aren't sellers, even tho they definitely need to make a move of some sorts. Man has their defense and goaltending looked absolutely busch league at times this year

After Joe extension
Dont want Glendening back? I think Acciari would be a great 4th liner or depth guy. Man Dallas is in such a good spot now with that cheaper Pavelski extension. Granted they have to continue to play well, but I think a lot of people are sleeping on Dallas for a cup contender. 2 years removed from the finals. Hell of a series last year against Calgary. Theyve got a lot of free money next season and all they have to worry about is depth really. If they dont get it done this year, they certainly have another shot next year if the old guys can continue to produce. Theyve got everything in place. Scary team.

Couture is lights out in the playoffs. Adding him, while expensive, both in what you give up to acquire him, and towards the end of his contract, makes this team pretty nasty. The top 6 is absolutely insane. But the defense is very suspect and thin now minus Suter.

Possible Offseason Targets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>InRodWeTrust</b></div><div>Hadyn Fleury not working out?</div></div>
He's currently our #8. Hes a fine #6-8. He's looked alright this year, theres still room to grow, he's just not a guy I want playing regular 3rd pair minutes. The games he does play, he usually doesnt see much ice time. Further down the road and into the playoffs, if he has to fill in because of injuries, he's gonna be lucky to see more than 10 minutes a night. But again, he does have some upside and next year he may see a bigger role than his current one

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>I’m not sure if that is sarcastic or not, because Chatfield isn’t a rare commodity. He’s just a great 3rd pairing fit with the Canes on a close to league min AAV. He’s in the category of a player you’re trying to find a replacement for as soon as you trade him. Means you’re over paying in a trade.</div></div>
no im being serious. I think he is a rare commodity. He's young, excellent contract and a RHD. Him being in the category you described is the exact reason why he has as much value as he does. Yeah you can find replacements but not like him. He's in a sweet spot. Most think he should have developed more by his age(same people who call 23 year olds busts). If he falls off, its no harm given his contract. If he grows, there wont be as much hype around his name to overpay him so he could get another decent deal. Im no expert, i dont watch the canes as much as id like to. I just have always liked his game and i cant recall any time that he did something that made me scratch my head.

If cap goes up by 2m
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Point21</b></div><div>there is actually quite a few Tampa fans that would take him back on a cheap contract for the 3rd line and to QB the 2nd PP unit. he would add more skill to our lineup and if it doesnt work, it would be 1m for a year. its not like we dont have another useless player making 1m on the roster now</div></div>
hell nah keep him far from this team. Your argument for him only being 1x1 is fine but with the cap crunch we'll have to fill out the roster next season, its better spent on someone else. He has bad blood with this team and he's pretty invisible unless he's playing on the powerplay. Defensive liability.

The shark tank
Sharks go bankrupt. They are paying around 15 mil every year for the next 3 years between buyouts and retention. This team is paying $67,560,003 million dollars total over the next 5 years for players that either arent on the team, or are playing against them.

As long as they have all their core guys, which they do, you cant count them out. Who knows what mix of players will fill out the roster for the years to come, or what free agents they can land. They are a playoff threat that no one wants to play no matter the round obviously. And i think they become a team that can be a cup contender even with their aging core. Guys have played together all their career and have all played with the same coach. They adjust their play style to continue playing a well rounded game as guys lose skill and their prime passes. A legitimate favorite to win? no probably not. youre right that this is probably their last year that people will have them with good odds to win. But if they win another cup or make the finals again, i cant see their odds falling that far the next season. But as long as their core doesnt completely fall of the face of the earth with their play, theyve got the pieces to stay competitive for cups for the next 3-4 years

The Tampa deal doesnt make sense. Colton has proven his spot on the team and he's also much further along in his development thatn Nolan Foote is. Severson is a UFA whos too expensive for us to afford next year. While Colton is an RFA, we have his rights rather than him being UFA obviously. Colton likely isnt traded due to his age, familiarity in the locker room, and his cheap deal. He'll probably get a bridge deal next year so the team can stay competitive for the next couple years.
