Yeah he's one of the few Flames D actually locked up long-term. They would have to be in a fire sale (no pun intended) to think about moving him along with the pending UFAs

The Flames easily decline that.
Zadorov 50% retained for a 1st and bottom six guy at best (most likely an AHL lifer), but then they have to eat Reaves awful contract and send the leafs a 3rd?!?!

Conroy drives all the way to Toronto, hits Treliving with his own hand while saying "stop hitting yourself" and then knocks all his stuff off his desk before saying no chance in hell. Drives home to Calgary and makes a trade with anyone else for Zadorov

Beyond that his buyout is suuuppeer palatable in a couple years if need be
Wolf just got called up, hasn’t played but was leading the AHL with 5 wins and had a .924 sv%. Even if he were underperforming to start the season he’s only 22 and the only blue chip prospect the flames have, they’ll give him a huge runway to get his bearings if he needs it.</div></div>
That's fair, I just remembered seeing a ton of Flames fans saying they would rather trade Kadri than Huberdeau so I thought this might be palatable. I will remove it, thanks for the input

big game hunting in 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yycofred</b></div><div>I don't think there is a team I dislike more than I want to see do well... They're just so damn likeable, Hughes, Petersson, Kuzmenko are all such easy guys to cheer for and with the roster above it would be impossible not to root for Tanev. Nylander would be such a good addition to this roster. Even without the Nylander stuff, Canucks are the next team to bring a cup to Canada, book that.</div></div>
Miller can definitely be a ****-disturber and very physical, but he's also so passionate. Like his problem is literally that he can be TOO passionate. I can see him generating some hate. I know Edmonton fan were really pissed at Hoglander after last game. He's that small pest type, which teams love to hate. But the good thing is no one on this team is dirty.
Pettersson is honestly one of the classiest players I've ever seen, and this is from a team that had the Sedins and Linden. Like, I could show you so many clips of him showing concern or care for the opposition that I've literally never seen any NHL player show. He should have had Bing consideration for ages.
Kuz is just one of the most likeable players I've ever seen. That smile, man.
Hughes is just one of the most magical players to watch. Like seriously, he's just different.
Tanev is the best person as like team dad/leader. I hate that we lost him.
I appreciate why you feel that way and stating it despite your fan hatred for the team itself. Honestly, I hate the Flames, although it's like 20% Canucks at times, and there's definitely some schadenfreude with them and the Oilers doing bad, especially since that helps the Canucks. But on the other hand, I also want them to be great (although a little less than the Canucks) so we can have amazing games and rivalries.
I really want to see Calgary do a tear-it-down rebuild the right way. Not because I want them to be bad but because I want them to be good and not go through what Canucks did. You deserve better than years of mediocrity and not competing so we can get back to hating each other in the fun way rivals can.

Flames fans are crazy man
I think you are having a hard time distinguishing between people not liking the idea and just not liking you. I think a lot of people just constantly see you constantly everywhere (5 armchair gm's before 11am today, none with a a constructive thought) contributing nothing other than "flames decline" "leafs accept" "leafs decline" so on so on so on, and just think hey, this guy sucks, doesn't have a thought bouncing between his ears and crys like a **** at any hint of critisism. You also can't answer simple questions most of the time, throw a tantrum, disappear and pad your echo chamber with the ignore list at the slightest inconvenience.
Regarding the Klingberg part of your trade IT DOESN"T MAKE SENSE. Tanev is better than Zadorov, why would Calgary maximize value on Zadorov as opposed to Tanev with retention? The Flames should get a late 1st for Tanev @ 50%, make that the post and no one bats an eye, when you start saying things like "flip Klingberg" you lose everyone because that just doesn't happen. You also suggested that Klingberg got a couple prospects last year when he got a 33 year old German League player, so you can pretty quickly figure out why no one give you any credibility.
You're extraordinarily sensitive and refuse to take no for an answer on something that is a horrid idea. You are a petulant child.

The only things the Leafs have that Calgary would want are things that would hurt to give up in a ttrade, ie. Liljegren, Neimela. Ideally they would want a bidding war for Tanev and have someone overpay similarily to Chiarot but with a better player. As you kind of mentioned, I don't think Toronto wins that bidding war.</div></div>

That's super fair and maybe in an unfortunate way the injuries are a blessing in disguise at the negotiation table this offseason, if there is one thing Treliving is really good at it's getting his RFA's at really good numbers so that bodes well for Leafs fans. Neimela is likely a better target for the Flames anyways, more realistic and a better timeline.</div></div>
yup. Seeing Niemela as a future Liljegren isn't a bad way to look at it. Will take a couple years to get him up to speed on the defensive end but would be solid for Calgary.

Anderson - Doughty
Gavrikov - Hanifin
is the close to, if not the best top 4 in the league. with Roy expiring, Spence and Clark being good pieces coming up it could be a little jammed up, I see what you're saying for sure.
What would you think about making it 1 2nd round pick, Hanifin is a pure rental for an all in playoff run?</div></div>
The Kings have Roy, Clarke, and Spence to fill that hole. Arguably a Gavrikov-Roy pair is a better shut down pair than Gavrikov-Hanafin, and LA hasn't had issues filling the net their problem is keeping goal out of their own net.
Hanafin will field a good price, but for LA the fit doesn't feel right.

Let me copy and paste what I said on the last attrocious offer to take on Vlasic:
Why would a rebuilding team with no high end players to sign even NEED to dump a contract that they could easily ride out/buy out/bury.
What awful asset management that would be. Hell, I'd rather have Vlasics contract than Jones' (the other post was CHI, so for Calgary I'll go with Huberdeau). At least with Vlasic his contract will be expiring around the time they're competitive again [and need to pay players]

Bringing Kadri Back
The Kadri contract is, well, bad; but to call him a negative asset at this point is nuts.
He has one fat year, and suddenly that is the expectation? Come on🤣🤣🤣
Kadri is what he is - a 60 point centre how is a complete thorn in the side.
As for the deal - no for both clubs.
1. Conroy would be lynched if he were to add Hanafin as a "sweetner".
2. The Leafs ideally would be looking for a younger C in order to transition Taveres to the wing. Why else would they even think about Nylander there?
3. Kadri is likely to transition to the wing next year with Zary coming; which I have to think buys a couple more years of effective Kadri.
Just a horrible idea all around

I would be all for it. Hard to follow with all the other ACGMs but I did sign Tanev to a 1x$4M deal and this is two years out where I hope Wallinder will be ready to play and make an impact. It is still frustrating to think about Benning saying he "ran out of time" to sign Tanev before he left for the Flames.

Another comment here had suggested he sees PP time, what do you think about that? I know the Flames liked him for his foot speed and he feels like a good transporter of the puck. Sounds like Yegor would have loved Sutter! Shoot from everywhere and pray for a bounce!</div></div>
I think he needs to shoot from everywhere! But often wouldn't shoot enough, which lead to droughts.
Speed, long-reach, quick stick, quick release, accurate wrister. Those are strengths.
Would stick with regular PK time and middle-six 5v5 time.
