<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>Yeah, European Players, especially D-Men and especially of the Finnish Variety (remember Valimaki) make me nervous. Kylington was skilled, could skate and stick check, but his transitions and overall strength were brutal. I prefer North American D-Men who are used to playing the smaller ice surface and more physical game of hockey personally. That said, we are lacking depth at RD, so any addition there would be nice.

Obviously there's room in the game for skilled smaller guys and Gaudreau proved that, but after the whole Matthew Phillips fiasco, I feel like you can draft someone with Height who will eventually bulk up, but we should stay away from Drafting or Bringing in Small Guys. We already declined to qualify Jack beck and Rory Kerins who was similarly successful offensively to Voit in the OHL isn't really doing much in the AHL either, so Voit's just not a guy that really peaks my interest. Abruzzese would be better imo

Yes, I definitely see value in Trading Tanev to EDM who's 1st Round Pick will for sure be more valuable than TOR's. I'm not ready to give up on our season just yet, but I do see the value in moving Tanev now while he's Healthy instead of waiting and something happening that brings his value down. At least we should be able to get Ceci back as a replacement player to keep going, with the ability to Trade him in the off-season or flip him next season. Liljegren would have been a replacement player too, but TOR Fans are balking at moving him and now he's injured, so he's not as appealing</div></div>

Small sample size but it looks like Niemala is transitioning to the NA game really well in the AHL already, perhaps better than Kylington. I think the ceiling there is higher than either Valimaki or Kylington.

I don't think the Flames have given up on the season, in reality they're 4 points out of a wild card with 75+ games to play and a goaltender that's giving them a shot every night. I do think they should look at what Nashville did last season with the Ekholm, Jeannot, Nino trades. They acquired futures while keeping a team on the ice that was competitive to the end of the year. Calgary has enough pieces that they can turn this around very very quick, ideally when the new rink is opening.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingofRnR</b></div><div>What are your thoughts on Niemela!? He's undersized for the NHL and doesn't really fit our identity, no!? Same goes for Voit. What do we need another Left Winger for and a scrawny one at that!?

I think we get a better 1st Round Pick and/or Prospect from another Team for Tanev. Liljegren is more intriguing, but some guys aren't sold on him becoming the player he was projected too either. He hasn't been able to step up and face stiffer competition like they need him too. He's obviously not trusted by the coaching staff to play certain situations</div></div>

He's the same size as 26 year old Kylington while maybe giving up 5 pounds. Kylington's draft profile has him as the same height and lighter than Niemala and they fit a very similar profile, I think getting a good skating puck moving D man on the right side as opposed to the left is a bit of an albatross. You can fill out the LD through free agency and the draft fairly easily but Neimala would be a really nice fit in the pipeline and the roster in the window that the Flames would need him more than Liljegren.

Agreed they can get a better pick and they should be doing everything the can to acquire Edmonton's right now. If you are getting the Leafs 1st then the prospect will be a lottery ticket. He has very similar numbers in junior as Phillips did, he's got a bigger frame and can get bigger than Phillips though. Not much but at least add some muscle. Voit could become something but likely a good AHL piece with some offensive upside that pushes for a spot in a pinch.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fangm</b></div><div>This might be the worst take ever. I dare you to go watch the Kyper and Bourne episode from 1-2 weeks ago with Jason Bukala who is a pro scout where he says that Timmins is widely considered a Top 2 D on par with Jireck in terms of potential.</div></div>

Conor Timmins: I’m good with having Timmins as an option next season because he was steady in the regular season when he got a chance. He’s a coveted right-shot defenceman who’s only 24 years old and scored two goals and 12 assists in 25 games with the Leafs. He should battle for a job on the bottom pairing, with the potential to eventually trend upward. Timmins is efficient when deployed on the second power-play unit as well. One thing the Leafs don’t get with Timmins is much physical push back. He averaged fewer than one hit per game, and fewer blocking shots. The key to his maturity will lie in his durability. Timmins has had his share of injuries dating back to his junior days with the Soo Greyhounds

You mean that Jason Bukala?

Conor Timmins: Timmins has proven to be a sound acquisition for the Leafs. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound right shot defender has contributed when in the lineup. He gives the team some added depth. Timmins is a two-way defender who can manage pucks on one of the power-play units. He’s involved defensively, bumping opponents and blocking shots. I’m not sure he is an option to provide regular minutes come playoffs, but he can certainly match up in a reduced role versus bottom six opponents. Timmins has signed a two-year extension paying him $1.1 million starting next season..

Or that Bukala?

Sounds like he sees him as a guy fighting for bottom pair time while he can slide up and down if need be. Maybe if you could point out where to find that clip that Bukala says Timmins has the same potential as a top ten prospect in the league it would help your case..

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>T0R</b></div><div>You aren’t getting any Top prospects for Tanev, like not even close

1st + 3rd + Timmins, Probably try &amp; dump Klinger &amp; if that needs anything more they add, but I wouldn’t expect getting any top prospect back, any excess value Tanev likely has is very minute due to his age &amp; the fact he is likely a rental to whatever team he goes to

As for Vegas &amp; Boston, WHO THE HELL IS TANEV REPLACING THERE?

McAvoy?, Carlo?, Pietrangelo, Whitecloud?

Dallas is indeed a suitor I can see but I highly doubt The Flames get insane value for Tanev

I say Leafs get him50% retained for a 1st +3rd +Voit + Timmins &amp; if they can dump Klinger so be it

If dumping Klinger costs another pick they likely do it or just waive him which also allows the cap to work</div></div>

Where did I say he was in that comment?

Flames don't need Timmins, Timmins has no value to anyone but the Leafs until he can show that last season wasn't lightning in a bottle for a month and a half and he can justify his contract.

Where did I say he was replacing anyone? It says that if the original poster thinks those teams are all on a NTC anywhere in the league he's a moron.

Flames shouldn't expect insane value, that also was never said, but they'll get a 1st round pick for him especially when they have all the ability in the world to retain 50%. 1st and Voit would likely get it done, or a better prospect and no pick but the Leafs don't have near the pipeline to compete in a bidding war if anyone is offering a prospect. If they also want to dump Klingberg then should expect to compensate the receiving team just as every other camp dump, it hurts to do, it's not a 5th round pick because he's coming from Toronto.
