Expansion Draft Asset Mgt and the Future
Just wanting to point out that Askarov was in last year's draft, you're mistaking him for Wallstedt.
I think Detroit either drafts Wallstedt at 6 if a top LHD isn't available or if Cossa is available when Nashville is up they trade up with Nashville since they're the team to take Askarov

My favorite pre Expansion Draft moves
Not sure about resigning Bernier, unless it's just to trade him down the line.
I think that the salary for Hronek is a bit low.
Also I feel like these moves would end up taking spots away from a few guys ready to compete in the NHL and could screw up their progression, mainly Veleno, Seider, and Berggren

Really not sure how I feel about the Bertuzzi trade.
Not a fan of giving up a 1st for Samsonov, I'd rather trade up from that pick and get Cossa, Red Wings aren't really in a position to give up high picks for players to start right away

Detroit has 8 prospects in the top 50 in Prospect rankings with Seider and Raymond being #1 and #3 overall among the most of any team so Detroit's pipeline is pretty deep. Detroit passes Dubas has interest in Bertuzzi Yzerman wont deal him unless he gets blown away with an offer he can't refuse. And this isn't that offer. Without Robertson heading to Detroit Bertuzzi wont be a Leaf.</div></div>
He might if Sandin were to goto Detroit but Leafs wouldn't like that either

He's also plays center which Red Wings is Detroit's strongest area. Don't see him moving past Larkin, Veleno, and Berggren on the depth chart. So that means he'd move to the wing and then have to compete for a spot with Raymond, and Zadina and Vrana so we would be getting a possible top 6 winger (not being the anchor on the line) and a magic bean for one of our top 6 wingers
Editing this cause I forgot Rasmussen down the middle

Not a fan of Detroit trading away Svech, I think he could compete for middle 6 minutes on detroit this year so don't think its likely he is traded as nothing

Draft plus off-season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I do think Berggren makes the team before Raymond and with the season he had I do think he could make the team out of camp. In The SHL the younger players on their way up don't get the same ice time as the veterans who's last stop in the SHL they get less. So it really is a big deal when younger players do as well as Berggren.</div></div>
I've personally haven't followed the SHL too much, just check how certain prospects are doing here and there but seeing the company that Berggren is among with his production and age got me very excited but I just didn't feel like he was getting alot of attention unless you were going out of your way to see it. But I also think Svech might have a chance to compete for one of the 3rd line wings too this season just forgot to add him to this team

How To Make It Past The First Round
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joey4h</b></div><div>Thanks for the feedback, I think a first would be to much to give up due to our lack of draft picks. I could definitely see Travis Dermott, A second round pick and you can add Rodin instead of Hollowell. You have to take into consideration that Tyler Bertuzzi is coming off an injury and you don't know how much that will affect him.</div></div>
I don't see Dermott being someone Detroit is super interested in, Mcissac and Cholowski have the potential too surpass him in the depth chart so having him be part of trading away Bertuzzi, who would be still be an impact player when Detroits top prospects start to make a impact assuming he's relatively unaffected from his injury. In other words I don't see Dermott being a guy that is a long term answer for Detroit amd that's what it will take for Bertuzzi

Detroit has no reason to trade away Bertuzzi, all the rumors have been around mention that Dubas would be interested. Probably would take a 1st and prospect that fits in one of Detroit's needs so probably someone like Sandin, Robertson, or Rodin. Like I said more than leafs fans would be happy to give up

rebuild
Not sure how I feel with this one, with the uncertainty of this year's draft I'm not a fan of making a blockbuster deal to get a top 10 pick. Svech hasn't had an opportunity to really prove himself and if neither a Raymond or Berggren are ready at the start of the season I think he would get middle 6 and 2nd powerplay time, could lead to his breakout season. Just don't think its the right time for this trade

I think Marner getting traded is kinda like Bertuzzi getting traded, it's something that the teams don't want to do but fans keep talking about. So for a mock trade to make sense it needs to be so completely lopsided to make sense. So in conclusion yes LA needs to add more

That's fair, just used him as an example the filling in the bottom 4D Detroit will look for guys who could mentor the young guys and get for cheap, either through free agency or taking on cap dumps

Rounding out the top 9 Round 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy12Bob</b></div><div>Mikheyev would be the oldest of them all, in what way is acquiring him stopping the team from getting old?
Mikheyev is a rental, he walks after one season.
Detroit already have 9 waiver eligible wingers penned in for next year + Raymond and Berggren.
Why should Detroit pay any assets for a player that would be older than anyone else in their core, who walks after the season, and who they don't have a roster spot for?</div></div>
I agree the Detroit has no use for Mikheyev but "Detroit paying any assets" Its a 5th round pick, not exactly a blockbuster. Not saying that they should go after him but if he were to play he's worth a 5th round pick

Doesn't give a reason to trade svech. If Detroit can find a line that's reasonable for him him to play on that works I think his value would be much higher than what it is now

They just arent team friendly contracts, Crosby contract, Hedman, MacKinnon all took discounts to try and help out</div></div>
Completely agree, Price was the first player to win a series making more than 10m this year. Although Marner is worth more than Bertuzzi and a 2nd, Toronto would end up saving somewhere around 5m in cap space which they gave up a first to get when they traded Marleau

Not sure how I would feel about trading away Svechikov. Looking at this trade I'd say Carolina wins cause I'm high on him, definitely want the Red Wings to give him a actual shot in the lineup before shipping him off.
Also by comparison his PPG this season was 0.38 while Zadina was 0.39. I know Zadina has a higher ceiling and played more games but just showing as a comparison since Zadina is often considered one of Detroits top wingers
