Small rebuild for the dark years 22 Off season

22 off season. 4 year deal. Took off a year for this season. 4 years gets the Wild out of the Parise and Suter buyouts to pay him more.

Good to know. I thought I heard at one point they were in the market for a RHD. I could be wrong. Also the surplus of young centers is appealing.

This is interesting. I like the idea if we are not going to make a bigger splash. With the Wild getting hit harder on the buy outs after this year I don’t see them making that splash. So why not.

Don’t know what gets Hertl but he seems like the right move now with the expiring contract. Unless GMBG can move more money out for the future to fit an Eichel or someone else that would command more commitment.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eharr0613</b></div><div>Not close on Patrick. These valuations of him are a laugh riot. Lol</div></div>
I mean a B center prospect and a 3rd is probably one of the higher valued offers I have seen on here in awhile. Many people think that this is an overpay for someone who put up 9 pts in 52 games and was a -30 last season. If you dont want to consider last season the previous 2 seasons he had 61 pts in 145 games. Thats without adding the fact that he has been injured a lot in his young career. I am willing to pay the offer I have in this case because he was a high draft pick, big, and is a skilled center that might just need a change of scenery. But he has shown nothing that makes this an underpayment.

He turned it down thinking we wouldnt be a contender. With the emergence of Kaprizov and Fiala it could change his mind. But correct he might still turn it down.

I will agree with that. Boldy should make the team out of camp with how he has been playing in college/AHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Clement</b></div><div>1) Will GM has made it clear he's not doing a 3 years deal with kaprizov
2) at best nolan's Patrick value is 3rd, or 4th round pick, why are you giving one of Wild's top c prospect, and 3rd round pick?
3) With all due respect, wild have zero needs for Phil Kessel, his contract, and his cap hold. Keeping Parise is better
So with all due respect,,every proposal is bad for wild, and from that perspective would be a no</div></div>
First point I hope he can get more than 3 years. This contract is practically a worse case scenario.
Second point no argument.
Third point I have to disagree. Kessel only having one year left, can still score, and brings another right hand shot to a lineup (more importantly PP) that could use more. Just for the fact that we get out of 3 years of Parise's cap hit is a win in my book. However in Russo's article on the Athletic today he did come out and say we would still be on the hook for recapture penalties even with a buy out so maybe Parise will stay.

Yes. Seems like the dispute is term. The Wild want him as long as they can get him so 5-8 and Kaprizov wants 2-3. The money isnt an issue right now.

Hockey is a team game. Winning the Cup is about having guys playing above their contracts. Most of your money is going to guys who can not realistically play above their contracts.
Eichel is a great player. If we could sign him as a UFA for 10M this summer without giving anything up for him, we still probably couldn't without losing a good piece or two to the salary cap. But trading for him compounds the issue because of what you're also giving up to acquire him. He's just not worth it, even though he is a true 1C.</div></div>
That was a great response.
But with the little cap you can look for cheaper options than Foligno and Patrick (Patrick I really like and hope we make a move for) to use the cap elsewhere. But I get your point and agree. As looking at athletic posts and seeing what we are interested in it seems like Eichel is the only public target out there right now so I made a post.

Yea and no. I’m a fan not a GM. It addresses the biggest need this franchise has. But like everyone says the trade is more than likely going to hurt at least somewhat to acquire him.

Honestly I am torn between paying the high price for Eichel or not. If it happens I’ll be happy. If it doesn’t and we still address the center issue, I will also be happy.

For a team that is looking like they are headed into another rebuild (it will never end) they will more than likely have enough cap to take on the buy out.

No reason to get Myers. Addison and/or Mennel can replace Dumba if he gets moved. Wild should be getting a center for Dumba. At the very least a right shot forward.

If Parise retires the Wild get hit hard with recapture penalties. Very best case is he gets put on LTIR but I think it’s unlikely.
That’s a horrible Dumba trade. Wild could and should get way more than Voracek straight up.
The Eichel trade will get ripped apart by Sabre fans but that’s an easy accept by the Wild.

It’s known Parise would wave for the Islanders and Lou likes his former players. So I picked the Islanders.

The big issue here is RNH conceptually & materially

With RNH I feel like he would be a good line mate with Fiala. But you bring up a good point with him basically getting a downgrade on line mates. So the money could be used elsewhere. Fiala has kind of been the odd man out on the roster where he doesn’t have a “partner.” Ek Greenway and Foligno are together, Kap with Zucc. Just need to find someone for Fiala.
