24 year old vs a 25 year old. I do think Necas is the better player, but it's not like 54 points isn't impactful. CAR is the team making the ask for a trade. By no means should they give him up for free, but if any of the rumors are close to reality (which they might not be) it doesn't sound like CAR was successful in getting teams to bite on a "hockey trade" quality for quality.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bedsy_Burner</b></div><div>I think CHI would be willing talk about Kurashev. But I don't know what kind of "+" CAR would want. CHI should not move those picks for Necas, though. Necas put up just a tiny bit more offensive production this past season while playing for a far superior team. Also, his defensive deficiencies will be exposed and likely amplified playing on a team like CHI, and Kurashev could easily look like the better player once he is playing on a better team. So, I am wary of moving him.</div></div>
As a Hawks fan, I don't think Kurashev is going to be our long term answer for the #1 RW position. I do think Necas is better and while it's always a bit of a gamble...part of the reason Necas wants out is because he was demoted on the PP unit. Kurashev got 221 minutes of #1 PP time which he won't get in CAR. Necas had his PP time reduced to 164 minutes...which would likely increase on the Hawks. Agreed on the defensive side, but that's also definitely for Kurashev too. I'm very open to a Kurashev+ / Necas swap.

There was an interesting trade that <a href="/users/vikhodush" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@vikhodush</a> posted...need to give credit where it's due.
Murphy 50% retained and Kurashev plus a 2nd round pick into the future for Necas. It kinda hits all the boxes except for the home run pick, BUT you can't have it both ways. You can solve a bit for the future with Kurashev and the 2nd. You can solve some cap issues with the retention and Murphy plays a hard nose defensive style which would help continue that trend for the Canes.
From my point of view Murphy is the hard piece to lose. We need physical veteran Dmen on the right. Losing one would hurt quite a bit imo.

As far as the description goes. That all makes sense to me and thanks for the update. Quick quesiton...That $7.4M is for Slavin, right? As far as the trades go...these seems to be a bit heavy towards CAR.

This isn't really true. The Hawks would have a massive hole on the defense if they traded Seth Jones. I fully understand and agree Marner solves a problem of theirs, BUT the Hawks need to get better as a whole team...not moving around deck chairs on the titanic. They need to solve their problems without trading Jones away.

Marner Vegas Laine Toronto
This is certainly an interesting way for things to play out for the Leafs. I VERY much doubt after all the mental health struggles Laine's had...that Toronto is a place he'd be willing to play for. Not exactly the easiest market to play in with every shift being scrutinized.
***EDIT*** You'd also have to pay the Hawks to accept that trade, but not really the point of the post, I get it.

Bedsy Kane duo
It really shouldn't take a whole lot to get Laine. LeBrun is pretty reliable and if he's saying both the BJs and Laine are working together to find him a new home...it's a change of scenery trade. CBJ just wants the cap space back and hopefully not lose a whole lot. Things just aren't working out for Laine in Columbus.

He stays.
The NSH trade is the best value because you solve 1 position that desperately needs attention you free up cap space for additional defensive moves and you stock the cupboard. I don't think NSH does this trade though.

At the Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>According to Puckpedia’s cap relief calculator, the cost of moving Kampf’s remaining 3 x $2.4m is valued at the 26th pick of the 1st round which has a value of 13.77.
Again according to Puckpedia, Toronto’s 1st round pick has a value of 16.01.
In order to get a trade that gets as close to equal value given the picks each team has available I would suggest the following:
To Chicago: Kampf, Toronto’s 2024 1st round pick (23) which has a value of 16.01
To Toronto: Ottawa’s 2024 3rd pick (72) which has a value of 2.48 which when combined with Kampf’s contract dump value (which again is estimated at the 26th pick of the 1st round) 13.77, for a combined value of 16.25.</div></div>
Wow, that just seems like alot. I mean...that tool also says Marner with his 1 year 10.9M Cap means they'd need to shed the #19oa to dump him. I guess I think player involved needs to be factored in. Kampf can absolutely play the #4C and the PK. He's pretty good at that. It's just the contract is ~$1M-$1.25M overpaid per year.

Yeah, and then walk for nothing. That's what makes this so tough. Exactly as you put it. He'll have to suck it up...until he gets his revenge and leaves for nothing the next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman_Burner</b></div><div>You think he doesn't drop out of the top-15?</div></div>
I think the Blackhawks as an organization can't draft him because of all the controversy that surrounds this team as of late. I'm personally a guy for 2nd chances and kids make tons of mistakes. I did as a kid...heck I do now as an adult. Just his history of posting Nazi stuff online and suspensions for verbal abuse toward others makes him undraftable by the Hawks. I've read up on the kid and it seems like he's really trying to do right and not ignore the past, but be an advocate instead AND I wish him nothing but the best. The Hawks likely won't be able to get past that stuff right now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>Canes aren’t interested in quantity</div></div>
They're in an interesting spot. Of course they want quality, but not a lot of teams can actually meet Necas demands in terms of salary/cap WHILE also having pieces to send back of equal quality. They might need to settle for a mixture of lesser nows and some futures. Getting quality for quality now is about as likely as a 1 year arbitration and walking as a UFA.

I'm good with this approach for contracts, but would prefer Jake over Turbo if he's an option. If not...then yeah this works. I wouldn't mind a 3rd year (or potentially a 4th depending) at all either. Gotta think at least a few ELCs will be on the team then.
