Excellent fit and an absolute fleece job by Winnipeg. Definitely not a sellers market, but man New Jersey has to be reeling about this one. Terrible asset management

Not a fleece job. This is the market rn. Everyone thinks all these returns are light. Maybe people on here are undervaluing draft capital relative to NHL GMs
The more we learned about this trade, the happier I got as a Jets fan. I was thrilled with the 2nd + 3rd, but when the 50% retention came out about 30 minutes later, I was ecstatic
Thought NJD would've gotten more for toffoli who is consistent year after year.
Win gets a 2nd/3rd line forward that adds to a already talented offense.
Win for WPG imo

Just because all the other GMs did poorly doesn't mean that this trade is fine. Toffoli is a legit top 6 winger and they traded for him little to nothing. There was no pressing need to trade him, I'm sure he would've re-signed with the Devils.

This is a horrible trade for the Devils
I don't think the Devils would've wanted to pay Toffolo 6+mil

Yea you can't assume that Tofolli was asking for a contract the Devils wanted to sign him to.
& the market dictates the prices so you have to factor that in

Last year was the bubble and this year is the crash.
Draft capital values haven't changed, it looks like we are seeing an adjustment to rental costs.
Teams aren't as willing to part with high potential prospects for temporary measures.
Honestly a long overdue change in GM mindset (if that's what it is).
