I think it's a good signing for Devils (more high quality competition the better) but I think he needed 1 more in NCAA to further develop physically and his overall game

It sounded like he was leaning towards returning to Michigan for another year, so this is a bit of a surprise. Good player, good signing for NJD.

He could have signed April 11th, after Michigan’s loss to BC, and burned a year of his ELC. By signing now, the ELC extends through 2026-27 (the final year of Marino’s deal). Works out well for NJD.
