No greater topic of conversation on this site, or in nhl, than the future of Marner & Leafs. A lot of moving parts so it makes it hard to predict anything with certainty - but I’m pretty confident Leafs want nothing to do with Wilson, now that he has a top 10 terrible contract hanging around his neck.

What makes you think you're getting that much for 4th liners?

very fair question. if you've watched either, oh boy then you know those are the types of guys that a team could add to win the cup. looking at the prices for some other great 4th liners, i don't think these prices are far off. Beck malenstyn is all energy all the time and blocks every shoti know if i were a cup contender, i'd be perfectly happy to pay that price. if i were the caps GM, i also just don't think i'd give him up for less than a 2nd. he's got that kind of value in my opinion. On dowd, i'm more skeptical. He's an incredible defensive and faceoff guy on a great contract who could add real value to a contending team as well (similar to Malenstyn), but he is older. I think that's what the caps were looking for on Dowd at the deadline, but he did have another year left on his contract.

Seems fair to me. Buch is a popular player here but the Blues need to get younger.
