<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Its the delay of another year of the CBJ 2nd (CBJ banking on themselves that they will be better in 2026 than 2024 or 2025).

Its a pretty even swap, but CBJ has Olivier to police and Risto is 3 yrs younger and higher upside, albeit more expensive. I would think its a small difference from one to the other, made up by the swap of 2nd and the 5th, but maybe its a tad more.</div></div>

I understand the delay, but I don't see that as adding as much value as OP may think.

And whether its Guds or Risto, neither really presents a long-term solution for CBJ, both are slightly overpaid, and its not like the age difference is significant for two guys who signed through age 32/33. We have enough youngin's coming in that are going to need the spot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Even though I think that's accurate, Columbus doesn't see either of them as a core piece in the next 4+ years, Risto would still be in his 30s by the time we're looking to compete. Might as well keep the guy who's an assistant captain already for the 2nd-youngest team in the league.

If the 5th got pushed to a 2nd, yeah, I could see it. But otherwise it just feels like shifting deck chairs for no real hockey reason. Not a bad trade by any stretch, I just think other fanbases don't understand how highly the CBJ organization values Guds the person, and that's why we'd say no.</div></div>

Exactly. Doesn't necessarily feel like a notable upgrade either way, which is why my mind went to PHI's incentive being greater (lower cap hit/term), and CBJ getting a bit more leverage.

But if that's not the case, I'm not going to lose sleep passing on this for CBJ.
