Man Montreal AGMs are a cesspool for trades involving average to mediocre prospects being heralded as top prospects and high value assets when in this universe that’s not the case.

Something I seen today
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jberney1</b></div><div>SJ is getting the best player in the trade that was coming off a high ankle sprain and wasn’t fully recovered yet… he gives Celibrini an established winger and bolsters SJ offence automatically… he has more points in the playoffs then any of the big 4 in Toronto.. SJ is also getting a first round pick in Liligren that has upside along with Robertson who in the right situation will show great upside given the opportunity to play everyday. A situation like SJ is perfect for Marner..low media pressure which is something he needs..
he only has to be rental if SJ allows him to be… or he can be a trade chip come the trade deadline that allows San Jose to continue to build for the future…</div></div>
Why would they spend all those assets on a trade chip for next year? His cap hit is huge and San Jose doesn’t have a retention spot open. Nobody will have $11 mil at the deadline to get him and he won’t get the return then that they would be giving up now. It makes no sense. Of course it does for Toronto because the cry baby who can’t perform in big moments with a fat salary gets off their books while adding valuable assets

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jakdonaghy</b></div><div>Yeah can’t figure the full trade. Hed be first pairing on the Sharks. Would the Canes have to offer something to offload him? Or is he worth a return even at that AAV?</div></div>
I’m not even sure. He would be 1st line on the sharks but he shouldn’t really on any team. I would think San Jose could take orlov for free but why not try and get something for it.

There’s 0% chance San Jose pays for that contract let alone agree to terms that would have them potentially paying a 2nd round pick for him

Get Bedard some Elite Players
Draft prospects hockey.com values the 1OA at 45000 points and the 2OA at 25000. So essentially it would take 2OA (25,000 points) and 4OA (20,000 points) to equal the 1st over value. For reference, the 3rd round pick belonging to Chicago via ottowa holds a point total of 800. So it’s 45,000 points traded for 25,800. Seems fair

Kunin isn’t going unqualified, though I wouldn’t mind if he did. The team and management group love him. He will easily make double that in San Jose too I’m sure

UP AND DOWN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LikeABoss</b></div><div>Matta isn't a cap dump, this would be value added for San Jose. If Detroit makes it to the 2nd round in next year's playoffs, the pick value starts to flip ~54 OA, but Matta can be moved at the TDL, probably for a 4th or maybe a 3rd with retention.
I think it probably depends mainly on who is available. I'm just showing what would be a pretty fair offer for the top of the 2nd round, something lower might be a better fit for Matta and would be cheaper. Letourneau might not be worth two 2nds and Matta...</div></div>
The sharks just don’t need him really, they could get someone similar or better for free in FA and I think they will hold 33 especially if they go forward, forward with their first two picks.
