I think that Parekh will still be on the board at #5 even if we fall as a result of the draft lotteries, because the first four selections should be among Celebrini, Levshunov, Demidov, Lindstrom and Buium. (Or, you could be right, Dickinson might go that high.)</div></div>
I have Dickinson that high because the guy has such a high floor imo and is a sure fire high end defenseman. The ducks should definitely go defense unless they jump to 1 tho because that top 6 is lethal for the future

Don't know about a 1st, could see a 2nd tho
Nylander had 12 really solid games which is a good sign, but I doubt anyone pays more than a late 3rd for him

I would say that you could probably get a 2nd plus those two for Andersson, but leafs don't have a second

I could see both of those being true, I just am more prone to the Devil's strategy of locking up young talent long term at a lower AAV than what they will be worth

If you're talking about the Palat trade, that is like the bare minimum to move that contract without buying out

Very understandable take. I'd be fine with the jets going either route, but we will have to see how it goes

Like these moves a lot, but I think Maccelli needs to be in that top 6 over Teuvo. Maccelli kinda absolutely dish the puck and may be one of the better passers in the league. He's gotta be out there dishing to guys like Guenther who have the shot to finish

Maybe, but sometimes guys just put places they don't like due to their environment on their trade list. You never really know

I agree with the thought on bringing a new guy in to the D core, but Carrier could be that guy. Very solid both ways and I would say that having two solid pairs instead of a loaded top pair with an ok second pair is their solution. Ehlers is solid, just needs a new coach or maybe a fresh start so I can understand that mindset

I would disagree, maybe would get less than I said, but at best I'd say a 5th without giving up more. Could also see a Future Considerations return

To be fair, your team is the only one willing to do the cap gymnastics to get Marner on their team

Offseason Pending 1st Round Exit
Before anyone wants to kill me for the Marner trade, he is not going to be traded for a number 1 d-man. The leafs best solution with trading him would be to trade him for solid depth and fringe nhl prospects that can help in the near future. Also adding a goalie to run a tandem or start ahead of Woll would be good for him. The leafs biggest downfall this season has been depth everywhere. Adding guys like kulak, duclair hill and potentially more adds that protective layer that you need when your stars go down and you have Pontus holmberg becomes the 2C.

OFFSEASON
Meant to retain 50% of Murphy so that's on me. Ottawa needs the cap to sign and build a better d core starting with that right side, so Zub making 4.6 is not helping that
Defensive signings are too stabilize the young guys and help them focus on their individual growth while providing a back bone for them to lean on
Anyone thinking that the hawks are going to go out and sign a star forward or defenseman to improve on where they were from last year is kidding themselves. Any star that were to sign here would be on a 1 year deal that gets traded at the deadline. This is a solid team around the bottom 8-10 range which is where the hawks are looking to be. The pieces signed are there to ensure the depth is decent enough so if they have a disaster class of injuries again they aren't an AHL team

Lindholm has not been worth more than 5 million since Gaudreau and Tkachuk left. Not great at the flames or the Canucks until the playoffs
Zadarov at 4 mill is an overpay for a low-end 2nd pair high end 3rd pair shutdown enforcer
Pesce I definitely underpaid
Lafferty might be worth 1.5 but 2 mil is a stretch for a a fringe 3rd liner
Hronek will get screwed out of the 8 mil using the Hughes contract as the peak of Canucks d-men
