leafs vegas rumours
Hawks certainly aren't paying for Jarnkrok and Kampf. Trying to find a team on the their trade list.....near impossible, that would take their full cap.
Nothing really in for Vegas. Two starters at the same cost as one overpaid Marner.

Not a bad thought on the trade. But can't believe Pietrangelo will waive to Leafs with his growing American family.

LEAFS OPENING NIGHT ROSTER
One of the more reasonable lineups posted. That's an iffy Timmins/Kokkonen at 6/7 Dmen but maybe the Leafs have no choice. Though IMO played OK in spotty appearances due to illness and injury.

Leafs 2024 2025 Offseason Discussion Part 1: Kill or Be Killed
For the all reasons why Leaf fans want to move him, is the reason teams won't trade for him.
He's not worth his contract now...and a new one might be more outrageous.
Teams just spend that 11m that Marner makes, just spend that cap elsewhere.....just like so many Leaf fans think is the best option too for the Leafs. But to expect a return, especially a big return seems outrageously "selfish" IMO for Marner's true trade value
Berube: It's easy to love him now.....he hasn't lost a game. But really can he get more of his players than Keefe did?
Trivia question. Name the NHL head coach that was fired during the season, after he had been undefeated in that season.

Not one of those Rangers players are core. You can be sure players with trade restrictions won't have Ottawa on their trade list.

Brodie seemed to slowed to a walk this season. Despite his good numbers, I wonder if he is. really an NHL Dman next season.

Toronto Maple Leafs 2024-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tigers8</b></div><div>It’s temping to move Marner out for the $ alone and decent return he might net. But with Berube being a new voice and a new style than what these guys are used to the last number of years, he may want a shot with Marner. If it doesn’t work out, it’s a sign and trade near the draft next year.</div></div>
I don't know if so much style, but the just the make up the players. Leafs have been so "unlucky" in deciding games in the playoffs in the past decade, it really defies mathematics.
The winning goal in game 7 this April. Reilly and Nylander were both in position to retrieve the puck on the shoot in. How do they allow Pasternak to beat both them to the puck to score the winning goal?
I don't think is moving, his NMC and no team that he would waive too has the cap. He only moves with an extension and he would prefer to stay with the Leafs where he can continue to put up points in his contract year
I real question his next contract. He's the 9th highest paid player, but really he is the about the 9th best winger. The 9th highest winger gets paid 9.5m.

Leafs big moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tigers8</b></div><div>I was thinking the exact same thing, sure he scored 40 goals this year but he’s also 33. The deal would age poorly. Have to stay away from giving these guys long term deals just because they had a good season prior to free agency. Look what happened to Calgary, and even then Kadri and Huberdeau were quality players the last few years. People also forget, Toronto is a different market and plays a different way than Florida and Vegas, so if those two guys would even thrive who knows??</div></div>
Haven't Leafs fans seen how players like Brodie and Tavares have slowed down so much....like hitting the wall in their early thirties. But they still persist to acquiring guys to play to mid to late thirties. Sure for some it will be OK, but IMO it's too much danger, especially for Dmen.

Might be pretty fair trade. Just wonder if the Leafs are better to ride with Marner for a year, instead of taking three years of Karlsson, and losing the Leafs only centre prospect Minten.

Liljegren will get offer sheeted if that the best can do. I know Leaf fans hate their own, but why is Chatfield worth 4.1m and Liljegren just 1.6m
Minten has to be a Marlie in October/
I'd rather have Domi than Bertuzzi, one reason is Domi can play centre and the Leafs don't have any NHL centres with the Marlies.

Zibs doesn't waive. Hey love Zibs but six more years on his contract even at 7m for a 31 year old is iffy.
Leafs ride with Marner for one more year. And then figure out how to spend his cap next summer when he's not resigned.

Pretty reasonable roster you've created. Gotta think Webber has to play in the AHL come October. With about 8m to spend on two UFA Dmen.....it's a tossup on who those two guys might be. Agree with Mitchjr above it shouldn't be Pesce.

3 Team Trade With Tkachuk And Marner Going To Utah
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>11.93 x 8.
Teams:
Vegas - play with Eichel or Hertl.
Dallas - play with Hintz and Robertson.
Utah - play with Cooley.
Nashville - play with ROR and Forsberg.
Seattle - play with Beniers or Wright.
Ottawa - play with Stu and Tkachuk.</div></div>
Vegas....don't have the cap to take on Marner, if they want to resign some of their own UFAs. And by not trading for Marner they can sign any UFAs
Dallas. Seem to doing quite well without Marner. To fit him in just cap they have to dismantle some of their team
Utah. Maybe the best option. But giving up lots of assets just to acquire Marner, doesn't make them better. This is what so many Leaf fans don't understand. Utah has cap this summer and if not this summer to sign UFAs for free. As some suggested....trading 10m of Durzi, Doan, Crouse and taking on an 8m in cap (which could be used for another UFA signing) for 18m of Marner and Tkachuk plus giving up a first and two seconds doesn't make Arizona better.
Nashville. Who do they have to give up, and take on more cap than makes them better having Marner
Seattle . Doesn't really have cap, and who would they have to give up for Marner....does that make them better
Ottawa doesn't have the cap.
Remember Marner is under contract for just one season
I don't blame you as a Leaf FANatic wanting to get a good return for Marner. But I fail to see the benefit to the other teams. Plus you haven't mentioned Marner's next contract, if we talking sign and trade
Currently Marner is the 9th highest paid player. He's overpaid by any standard. The 9th highest paid winger makes 9.5m WINGER, which is more along the line of Marner's true cap value.
So what is Marner's next contract admitting some team might be willing to overpay.
But teams can always wait and just wait for Marner to be UFA as they do for other UFAs. Gee you did same thing on this post, You signed 4 "non Leaf" UFAs, without giving up any compensation.

3 Team Trade With Tkachuk And Marner Going To Utah
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>Reinhart is most likely staying at Florida. Guentzel is a difference maker in the playoffs, he's one. But he's the only one in UFA.
Marner will do a sign and trade because he wants his 8th year so any team trading for him will have him for 9 years.
And Tkachuk is a difference maker. He's underpaid imo. His contract is a steal. He's a unicorn in today's NHL. If you don't know that then it's clear you don't watch hockey.</div></div>
Sorry you only watch Leaf hockey. Your love for Marner's statue in the league is unwarranted. But that's OK. Agree Marner would agree to sign and trade,,,but what team do it, and please what tell us what do you think Marner's next contract will be.

Tkachuk....good player, maybe even worth his contract, but difference maker? Hasn't played an NHL playoff game
