Before everyone says: "Russo already said no on the rumor"
Still think this makes sense. Chychrun would be an immediate improvement with Dumba supposedly gone by the TDL.
Addison has been great on the PP but still needs to mature his play in 5v5. Arizona might be able to give him more time. Same for Rossi. He can get NHL minutes without pressure.

If I'm Arizona and I'm pressed, I probably make this deal, but what I'm looking for is a blue chip defenseman if I'm them.

You're already getting it. That's Addison.

Or is the current leading Calder defenseman not enough for you?

Addison currently ranks 5th in points for all Rookies this year, the next best defenseman is Sanderson at 12th.

But there is absolutely zero chance you're getting Rossi. Chychrun, frankly, isn't worth that much.

Zero chance Rossi is dealt.

1) Chychrun isn't worth that much, and the Wild aren't giving up 2 top prospects for a overrated 2nd pairing defenseman.

2) However, moving Addison for Chychrun makes sense. Addison would be blocked by Chychrun's acquisition, so would therefore be redundant. And Arizona would need a top defensive prospect back for Chychrun to replace him, preferably one that's close to NHL ready.

Addison fits that description to a tee.

Now, if the Yotes still need a 2nd prospect back. Then send one of Minnesota's lesser center prospects, like either Bankier or Petrovský. Rossi is untouchable.

Addison is not projecting to be an elite defenseman... his game is one dimensional right now; you don't put those guys on your top pairing unless they're so offensively good that they break the game.

I wouldn't want Rossi, but Rossi-quality players is the bargaining chip you'd use to get Chyrchun from Arizona.
