A hopeful turnaround without being dumb and overreacting

Created by: NucksnOilers

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Notes on each move
-I still somehow genuinely believe that this team can make a WC spot but if not they better use that top 15 pick to their advantage, use it as a trade piece, getting a player that can help you win with Mcdavid and Drai is so much more helpful than some random 15th overall pick which you will fail to develop. You offload Ceci while bringing in a top-4 d-man who can make immediate impact and create stability. Blues shed a contract that could get yucky by the end of it and get a top 15 pick that will actually be put to use.
-This habs trade should happen in the next few weeks, Skinner is at his best as a 1A/1B goalie so is Allen. This is a tandem you can win with if you provide ok defence, getting a veteran goalie and a 4C whose proven to be solid in the playoffs is important. Bourgault/2nd should be enough for half retention on Allen, Habs get a high second and a middle 6 prospect for two depth pieces that will mean nothing to them in 2 years no matter what
-Give Holloway one last shot, put him on that 3rd line and PP2 and if at that point he can't show production you've done everything you can.
-Lavoie and Broberg have shown they won't be stars which to me is fine since they both look like great depth pieces, yeah it's a letdown but work with what you got. Broberg is a great bottom pairing guy and Lavoie is a great 4th liner.
-Debrusk may be one of the only UFAs willing to sign here, do it. He's a perfect fit give him a one year deal to bounce back
-Brown will/should just resign for 750k, you pray to the lord he bounces back as a 3rd liner
-Obvious Campbell buyout

Think you targeted the wrong team, they are in win-now mode as well so have more use for Parayko than that 1st too and they are already in a playoff spot so they will be adding not subtracting from their roster

You’re over the cap almost 2 million tho?

Not sure you wanna strap yourself to the Parayko deal with drai, Bouchard and mcdavid extensions to fit in coming up

If you’re not offering 4 firsts for Parayko Blues fans are going to lose their minds

As a Habs fan my only complaint about the proposed Allen trade is that it uses up Montreal's last retention slot and the Habs are not getting a 1st round pick (in the future, say what you want about Bourgault) out of it. This means that Montreal cannot use that retention spot as a sweetener later at the trade deadline in order to hopefully pick up a better asset (i.e .retaining on Monahan to get a mid to late first round pick).

I don't see the blues moving Parayko. He's probably the last D they move.

You’re right that Ceci is the one that needs to move, I’d be willing to pay assets to send him out right now.

For the 5167492nd time, Parayko is NOT available. And even if he was that dog**** offer gets you thrown out on the street. Not even remotely close.

Oh yeah cause a top-15 pick to take on a player whose deal could be among the worst in the league in 2-3 is a dog**** offer.

Not available, fair enough

Dog**** offer, just not true

Yeah I realized that but just didn't bother lmao

A top-4 d is needed to compete and if we can't compete Drai and Mcdavid aren't gonna resign

Ceci has negative value to the Blues, dumping him would cost like half the value of that 1st (which would absolutely not be a lottery pick with Parayko on board). This is at best the equivalent of offering a 4th for Parayko (whose contract is not anything to "shed"... what nonsense).

So yeah, it's a comically terrible "offer" for a player who, yes, is not available. Write it down.
