Retaining on holl does not make him cheaper to dump. Hawks have more cap room than anyone. The term is what makes holl expensive and the fact that Chicago already has a ton of picks so they don't need to give any discounts

I don’t think either team does the Kings trade.
This will be an unpopular opinion, but why would Detroit trade a 1st to dump Copp but take on a guy with similar production, a longer term, higher AAV, a worse defender, and a history of being a bit of a drama (LA)king? PLD is obviously a better player, but based on last year, not sure it’s worth it.
Copp- .41ppg- 5.625M- 3 years
PLD- .47ppg- 8.5M-7 years

Dergachyov is an interesting wild card though.

Also, I’m not sure Anderson is better than Berggren, let alone adding Veleno and a pick.

I get the Flames trade but I don’t think it’s worth losing Walman and a 2nd to upgrade from Husso to Markstrom.

Well Anderson is a completely different player than Berggren. I emphasized size here as you can see.

No thank you from CGY. I don't see a need for either Husso, or Walman.

Flames wouldn't be discussing a trade involving Markstrom if that was the offer.

They don't need an older so so goalie with a few years left before becoming a UFA, they also don't need a 29 year old third pairing left shot defenseman when they have a younger/better option in Kylington that will probably cost less than Walman, and likely extend again after his next deal.

If Detroit is willing to offer their 2024 1st rd pick then Conroy would be listening. That trade doesn't do anything for them as far as the re tool goes and they could probably get a similar deal next off season when Markstrom is on the last year of his deal.
