Congratulations to Cody Ceci for being on the same team as Connor mcdavid and Leon Draisaitl.</div></div>

I guess you didn't comprehend what I just wrote...
Ceci has been on the ice for just 2 GA over the past 10 games. That's the fewest of any defenseman in the NHL.
I don't have a problem with moving him per se, but he's definitely not a cap dump.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>Yea I spent some time looking through their lines and they aren't that physical, aside from Kulikov and Mikkola; Tkachuk, Bennett and Stenlund for Dmen and Forward respectively.
They play a really suffocating style of 1-1-3 forecheck/transition defense which gives the impression of physicality but they dont really throw hits in any of it.
They mostly just quick gap and stick check, which works well for them but they haven't played a very fast team all playoffs aside from TB who did well vs them (despite what the results looked like).</div></div>
Yeah, and Tampa is slow by comparison.

Gary - why trade Ceci like a cap dump after he's played so well for the Oilers in the playoffs? In his past 10 games he's been on the ice for just 2 goals against in all situations, very impressive considering he plays a lot of PK.
Here's what this site's scouting report says about Liljegren: <em>"Liljegren is a polarizing player. In regular season he averaged 20:00 per game TOI and was deployed in all situations. In playoffs, the coaching staff didn't trust his game and dropped his TOI to an average of 17:00. His minutes dropped due to the fact he didn't have a regular role on the penalty-kill versus the Bruins."</em>
That's not an upgrade. But somehow Ceci is a dump and Lilly is worth a 2nd+... cripes.

If you seriously think Kulak is a top 4 defenceman then be my guest and find one of the other 29 teams for him because the Flames aren't interested.
Also pump the brakes you morons haven't even won one yet at least win this one before you guys start planning next years parade</div></div>
The scenario here is b2b, that's what I'm going off. Not planning any parades.
And no guy who plays top-4 on a Cup winning team is treated as a cap dump a few weeks later when he's making just $2.75M. That's fool talk.

There's no cap dump there! Ceci has been on ice for just 2 goals against at 5v5 over the past 10 games - his shutdown abilities are a big part of why Edmonton is in the Finals. And on the record setting PK, he's been on ice for zero goals against.
You're getting a competent 2RD on a very low risk contract for essentially nothing.
Edmonton isn't trading Ceci for nothing. A 2nd + 6th seems reasonable, with nothing added from Edmonton's side.

Grier Shocks as SJ Sign Guentzel Walker Get Kakko Sign Montour Henrique to 1yr
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CheechYou</b></div><div>Yes, this makes sense at first glance. But one point that I think often gets overlooked is that 1 or 2 of these investments on very good 29/30 year olds players should be looked as partial investments into the development of your younger players themselves.
Celebrini, Smith, and Musty's development will absolutely be progressed with a guy like Marner/Guentzel/Reinhart on the team in their early years. There's a good chance that their development is stagnated either in small part or in great deal if you don't have those guys on the roster to help them and the team out.</div></div>
A few counterpoints:
By adding those guys, you'll reduce the value of your draft picks for the near future, thus lowering the team's potential.
Who needs 30 year old superstar linemates to help their development? That's a silly suggestion. None of Orr, Gretzky, Lemieux, McDavid had that. Even lesser players like MacKinnon, Matthew's, Kucherov and Marner didn't have (or need) that.
The best teams in history have a core group of similar aged players.
By the time Celebrini is in his prime (25-30), all those older players will be well past theirs or will have aged out of the league.
You can always sign a bunch of UFA's in 2 years.
Don't rush the rebuild, do it right. Accumulate a bunch more talent before pushing all your chips in.

Honestly you're better off losing and building for another 2 years still, before going all-in on 30-something UFA's.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>Can't do this years roster so for EDM line 3 and Florida line 4 there are no players (unless I create them and lose the logo).
Would imagine that Mcdavid's line would be an issue for the Tkachuk line, I think they'd need to put Barkov against him.
There'll be a lot of adjusting though, Florida will have an issue with our speed and need to respond, likewise with us dealing with their physicality.</div></div>
I didn't realize that 23-24 rosters weren't an option anymore, that makes more sense.
Florida is less physical than LA / VCR though, and a smaller team than the Oilers, so I don't see the physicality thing being a big deal. I recall reading that Florida has been outhit in every series so far. I think the physicality thing is overrated.
So much skill on both teams though, it's shaping up to be the best finals we've seen in a while.

Line by Line Comparison of the Finals
This is quite confusing, the players you have representing some positions don't actually play those positions.
I.e.
- You have McLeod and Verhaeghe representing the 3rd line, but they play 4th and 1st according to your DFO links.
- likewise the 4th line is way off, as are the 2nd and 3rd pairings.
Makes it difficult to actually compare the lines, which is the point of the post.
BTW, there's some talk of Florida matching Barkov up against Draisaitl, thus keeping Tkachuk away from Kane. Not sure I buy that, but we'll see.

Ceci has been quite good over the past 10 games. If that continues I don't see him getting moved on the summer, definitely not for bad value deals like this one.
