-21 is a reflection of the team not him, albeit I agree you have a point.
Point is of all 40 goal scorers the cheapest is hyman (anomaly) and boeser (signed based on potential). Every other one makes 8.5 and up. Even point, who was a -16, makes 9M.
I just can't see your point holding any water</div></div>
I dont want someone great defensively I was just saying why Stammer would only be worth 6.1 compared to all the other 40 goal scorers. He is also a lot older than most 40 goals scorers. Marchessault who is also older is projected to make 6.2. Stamkos being -21 is partly a reflection on the team but -21 is also last on the team so theres that. I think 5.5 x 5 is fair, and not sure tampa could afford much more than that anyway. Regardless, after the McDonagh trade JBB had a presser and seemed very confident he was going to be able to resign stammer so he has a plan, whatever that entails.

AFP has him making 6.1, when you factor in tampa has no state income tax, he wants to stay here and has left a lot of money on the table before I dont think its that unreasonable. Also yes he put up 40 goals and 81 points but he was also a - 21 and not great defensively

I dont think that pietrangelo is underpaid. Yes a player can be overpaid even if a GM is willing to give them that contract, hence the concept of being "overpaid".

Danault and Cirelli are pretty even offensivley and defensively, in terms of age they are both aways from declining and that range of 25 to 33ish players typically will get the same AAV. A long Contract Length is only a good thing if its a good contract and that can only be determined once the contract has ended. Same thing with Cernak, I dont really care about size as long as its not a hinderance and Zub is still able to bring physicality along with good defense. Again I just said that werenski and Jones were bad comparables, both are overpaid.

His perceived "lack of production" is more much more than made up for by his defensive dominance.
Cernak is a lock down top pair RD over paid is garbage. Simple enough
Sergachev missed most of last year and a broken leg is a freak injury it happens So, I'll go back to the prior year leaf team in TOI the previous year and has produced 52p/82 has been very good defensively again thinking he's 1.5 mil over paid is ludicrous Sergachev 8.5 Jones 9.5 I'll take Sergachev everyday. Again Sergachev 8.5 werenski 9.5 again I'll gladly take Sergachev.</div></div>
For cirelli I said overpaid by about 750k he is comparable to a Danault, hes a very good player and I dont want to trade him, Cernak is good but is still overpaid by about 500k or so comparing him to a Andersson, Zub, Pettersson etc. You can't just ignore the awful start to the season sergachev had the sample size was large enough to be worrying (it was almost half a season). Sergachevs numbers offensively were inflated last year from being the QB of PP1 just like how hedman's numbers normally are. I disagree that sergachev was good defensively, I think he was at one point but hasnt been for awhile. Comparing Sergachev to bad contracts isnt a fair comparison. Jones contract is awful, up there with Nurse and Werenski is overpaid by 3 mil probably, I think Werenski is slightly worse than Sergy. To me a $8 mil defenseman is like a Pietrangelo, Morrissey, Hamilton, etc.

I would move cernak...but sneakily. I'd move sergachev. Both their clauses start July 1</div></div>
I completely agree on moving sergachev, I thought he was great his first season here and ever since its been a slow decline until this year he was pretty much unusable before the injury(he was ok in the playoffs). He makes way too much but just like a few other players on the lightning, he just started a massive contract. Tampa fans keep moving either cirelli and cernak, I think moving cirelli is quite possibly the dumbest move possible, him and hagel are the only two players that have a positive impact every game, whether they score or not. Cernak is alright, gets the job done, makes slightly too much but if we trade him he would need to be replaced. I would have never gotten mcdonagh, he was awful his last year here and they could have gotten montour, pesce, skeji or any FA for free. At this point the team cant be improved unless they trade sergy, its just trading jeannot, sheary and maybe perbix then resigning stamkos and bringing up some of the prospects.

Stammer would have to make 5.5 or less, given that AFP has him making 6.1 and tampa has no state income tax and his family lives there I could see it. JBB seems confident that Stammer will sign, it still doesnt make the mcdonagh trade make sense though.

Eyssimont is way better than evans. Evans is better than jeannot and sheary but then again so are most AHLers and hopefully they wont be on the team soon. I would take Glendenning and Chaffee over Evans but its like splitting hairs but when you take into consideration his cap hit I would just rather not have him.

prob not, JBB was talking about how McD solidified the top 4 of Sergy, Heddy, Cerny and McD so it sounds like thats his plan. He also thinks he will be able to resign stamkos so either cirelli is gone or both of sheary and jeannot are gone, or stammer takes close to league min

thats like saying your making purchasing the scratch off ticket look even worse now by throwing it in the trash. We already lost, at this point the cap space is more valuable than worrying about the optics around this trade.

Makes literally no sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CallMeJack</b></div><div>Zadorov and maybe Walker or Roy if their prices were right would be about all I'd want from the names you mentioned. Pesce can't stay healthy and we have that issue already with Cernak plus he wants a long term deal, something JBB doesn't want to give out. I will agree his last year in Tampa wasn't the best but he has shown he can still play and play very well at that. From a financial standpoint, sure 6.7 million is a big cap hit but it was going to be used on a dman anyways and Brisebois went and got a defenseman and a leader that his locker room and fanbase loves. If Tampa got any retention on McDonaghs contract it would have been a much better trade. Thankfully, McDonagh and Sergachev both can play offhanded, albeit it is a learning curve but Lilleberg will play and Crozier likely is in Syracuse come October unless Perbix is gone and Raddysh rotates the bottom pair spot with him which would be fine by me</div></div>
Pesce has played more games in the past 3 years than McDonagh has. I don't understand why JBB said he didnt want to give out anymore long term contracts after just giving hagel and 8 year extension and all of cirelli, cernak, and sergy have 7 years and pointer has 6, seems another 7 year contract would fit the timeline just fine.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CallMeJack</b></div><div>Talk about overreacting. Pesce apparently isn't what he used to be, and Montour and Skjei will likely stay with their current teams. McDonagh wanted to come back to Tampa and just played one of his better years next to Roman Josi, so the old man can still very clearly play and fills a big need for Tampa without signing an UFA to a long term deal. Stamkos will not be very expensive as both JBB and Stamkos himself have said and Brisebois also said today that the team has enough cap space to sign Stamkos. Lilleberg will likely still play 3LD next to Raddysh or Perbix next season they won't scratch him. At worst he will be in Syracuse for another year.</div></div>
Pesce is still way better than mcdonagh you can ask literally anyone on this website. There is also Demelo, Zadorov, Roy, Walker, and Tanev to choose from as UFA's. I didn't watch McDonagh while he was in Nashville but his last year in tampa was rough and no wasting 6.7 mil in salary cap when the team is this cap strapped is not overreacting. Even if Stammer takes a discount the money that they are spending on McDonagh could have been spent better. If Lilleberg plays 3LD then Sergy is probably playing his offhand which he did not do well with and that also means Crozier probably isnt playing and he played well enough to get a roster spot imo.

either that or we're about to derail ourselves like the blackhawks by reuniting the gang. I for one am so hyped for the Tyler Johnson reunion 🔥🔥🔥🔥</div></div>
Honestly at this point its hard to think we can be competitive with wasting this much cap on mcdonagh so might as well bring all the boys back together, sign johnson, trade for gourde, resign maroon, just run on good vibes until the rebuild.
