<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BruinsWoahWoah</b></div><div>I was a big proponent of bringing back Debrusk, but based on Sweeney and Debrusk's comments at the end of the season it sounds like he is as good as gone. Debrusk is a very good two-way player who can play all situations and has offensive potential, but I feel like he never fully reached it. Debrusk's 50 point 2022-2023 season was the closest we saw but was also limited due to injuries. His next deal probably comes in at $6M AAV.

I don't view this as bailing out Carolina - Necas is a stud and offensively brings more to the table than Debrusk. He is exactly what the Bruins need in their top 6 and is just entering the prime of his career. Bruins get the best player in the deal in Necas and a mid-round pick this season. Bruins send Lysell who can take Necas' top 6 minutes in Carolina, Ullmark replaces Freddy Andersen (upgrades depending who you ask... my guess is with Ullmark-Carolina TDL rumors Canes don't believe in the long-term recovery a 35 year old Andersen and want stability at the position while they compete for a cup), and a first round pick next year. A good return for both teams that allows Carolina to keep Jarvis, Guentzel, and a defenseman.</div></div>

Guentzel and Jarvis are going to take a lot of their remaining cap space. Half their defense are UFAs and their goaltending is a ? KK is also their 2nd line center.
Not sure they want to commit so much money to wingers.
Necas being arbitration eligible can just take a 2 year deal straight to UFA
If Sweeney strikes out in free agency this would make sense.
