another mock roster
According to the draft-pick-value chart I use, we owe you the Boston second and Pittsburgh third for the move from #31/#32 to #23, not the Anaheim third. How do you feel about Jackson LaCombe?
I disagree with the respected @Rob32sjsharks -- I think that the Liljegren package is fair value and that Jarnkrok might get you a third. I think that the right team might give you a fourth for Kampf.

Welcome back after your long hiatus!
Kent Johnson hasn't really had a breakthrough yet, so I doubt that Anaheim would make that trade.
Anaheim won't trade out of #3 unless Levshunov is gone, and the Winnipeg pick alone would be sufficient compensation for the move if the Ducks wanted to do it.
Pick #26 and pick #32 get us a lot further than pick #20 -- namely, around pick #14.
Thanks for trying out our team!

Plus Wallinder when you guys have Peart, Lambos and O'Rourke doesn't seem necessary or all that beneficial.

Anaheim's 3rd (pick 68) is worth those three picks in that package (80, 127, 159), so you're offering no incentive to us to take Goodrow's weighty cap hit off your hands. Accordingly, Ducks pass.

It seems odd to me that you would prefer to pay all that in trade for William Karlsson, who has averaged 50 points per season over the last three, instead of signing free agent Chandler Stephenson, who is a year younger and averaged 60 points per season over the last three and won't cost more than Karlsson against the cap. Karlsson is the better all-around forward, especially defensively, but I'd rather have Stephenson, the first, Minten and Robertson and Liljegren than Karlsson. I'll bet Vegas would be happy to make that trade precisely because they could re-sign Stephenson.

I doubt that Petry comes west of the Mississippi, Walman is worth more, and the Kings have worse cap stress than the Red Wings. I don't think that this one works for either team.

I don't think that Adam Sykora and the fourth are the prospect and pick that would close the deal for Frankie Vatrano. I think that more likely is Ryder Korczak and your 2026 third, with Anaheim retaining or else giving you a 2026 fourth.

Anaheim doesn't need a goaltender. The Ducks have both a starter and a backup for the foreseeable future. You're thinking of Los Angeles. Right time zone, wrong area code.

Tough choice -- which is worse: Matheson for 10th overall and Dawson Mercer, or Matheson for Kevin Fiala, bearing in mind that Fiala is signed for seven more seasons.

A #1RW with a cap hit of only $4.75 million that you're going to play with Panarin and Zibanejad who's averaged 0.88 PPG over the last three seasons with Buffalo is worth a lot more than a #3C with a dubious injury history and four second-level prospects. Buffalo wouldn't trade Alex Tuch without both a first-round draft pick and Gabe Perreault in the deal, and that's just for starters.

I'd be willing to bet that everyone in the CapFriendly universe except you would be happy to trade one season of Jordan Greenway for four seasons of Trevor Moore. And everyone else would be right, not wrong.

I'm surprised that you think that you have to give Connor Dewar that big a raise. If you can sign him for $1 million, or find someone else who can do the same job for that price, you could keep Conor Timmins and run a 22-man roster.
I suspect that you got mesmerized by the magic Toronto $1,350,000 number.

We're not trading Troy Terry for Filip Hronek. We'll add to Strome for him -- Jackson LaCombe might be appealing if you can't re-sign Zadorov -- but we're not breaking up our top 6 in order to fill a hole elsewhere; you progress by adding to the core, not shifting pieces around.

Zegras for Guhle or Reinbacher
I think that your fellow Habs fans can relax about Guhle -- I can't see us trading Zegras for him when we have Pavel Mintyukov already in the NHL looking like a #1 LhD with Olen Zellweger and Jackson LaCombe providing additional depth and quality on that side plus Tyson Hinds and Rod Dionicio in the pipeline. Here on CapFriendly our consistent ask for Zegras, first proposed by @GiggyWithGibby, is Reinbacher plus your 2025 second. That way, you still have the 5th overall selection this year and a good chance at one of Demidov or Lindstrom plus a virtual guarantee of Catton or Iginla.

We're not accepting castoffs for Zegras, and don't need an expensive backup for Lukas Dostal, but I could see us trading Gibson for Lyon and the second. Why you'd be interested in Gibson with Augustine and Cossa in the pipeline is a mystery to me.

Once again, no interest in Chytil and his unfortunate injury history.
Once again, no interest in Lindgren, even though he's good quality, because LhD is our best and deepest position.
No interest in Lindbom, with Dostal preparing to take over the #1 goalie position and five goaltending prospects in the system, including three that we just signed.
Very little interest in pick #30 when we already own pick #31/#32 and pick #35.
Try again.

necas
We aren't trading Zegras for Necas even if Carolina adds a high draft pick. We have a core with 5 forwards in place now; a team doesn't improve by exchanging one key asset for another but by adding to the core, and a younger, cheaper 0.73 PPG forward is more valuable than a 0.67 PPG forward.
Gudas and Gibson both have trade restrictions in their contracts and we are convinced that the Canadian teams are on those no-go lists. Moreover, Anaheim isn't retaining on Gibson because the Ducks can just keep him as Lukas Dostal plays his way into the #1 spot unless someone makes us an offer that appeals. Finally, Gudas >> Ceci and Campbell takes the first just to move that atrocious contract, so on value alone, that trade offer is horrible for the Ducks.
