Reading about potential ideas with Necas to Montreal what are others thoughts
I’m a big believer that Necas is overrated but even this ain’t anywhere close to getting him - nor would it be a deal for Montreal to make. The Canadiens have made it clear that Xhekaj isn’t available and they’re extremely high on him. They’re not moving him.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see Necas end up in Seattle in a deal involving Shane Wright and I don’t think Montreal has the assets to beat that kinda offer

He’s still a physical defender with a long reach that’s capable of playing top 4 minutes. Those aren’t easy to find. His contract may be a lot and it’s something they’d have to work alone but there’s definitely interest in him from Toronto.
He’s best paired with a puck moving defender and then he doesn’t look awful - if he’s paired with Rielly it could be a really solid pairing

I agree that moving a 1st for him is too much, but don’t be too surprised if Toronto trades for Ristolainen. Teaching has been kicking around him since almost the time he got to Toronto. The problem has been that Philly hasn’t been ready to move him barring an overpay and Treliving isn’t interested in giving up too much, but he loves the player and he wouldn’t be a terrible fit in Toronto

The rumour about Dallas? - Reid Mitchell. He’s one of the director of hockey ops for the Leafs that’s I know.

Questions for Caniacs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>With the buyout penalty being as cheap as it is, if no team is willing to pay for KK, which it sounds like there is a couple of teams willing, the Canes will just buy him out. No point in spending assets to move KK when the buyout is only about 800k.
As for Necas, Chicago doesn’t have much to offer that the Canes would be interested in. Canes aren’t interested in a futures type of deal for Necas, and there are only 2 roster players the Canes would likely want, 1 of which Chicago would consider untouchable. I get Chicago doesn’t want to move Murphy, but since Bedard isn’t getting moved, he is likely the only other roster player the Canes would want.
I don’t see Chicago being open to moving 2OA, but maybe a deal can be reached for 2OA and a prospect for Necas and 27OA, but that is almost certainly not going to happen with how great a difference between 2 and 27 there is.
Personally, I don’t think Chicago and Carolina are good trading partners for Necas. Just too much conflicting interests for a trade to be made.</div></div>
I get there’s a lot to this comment - but did you really just suggest that Necas should be traded for the 2nd overall pick + more?! … not even close. Like not even the same planet.

Not to nitpick too much, but I agree Lindstrom isn’t likely to fall to #10. I can’t see him dropping past Utah - if you look at the way they build their roster, they draft a lot of size. Parekh doesn’t have that element. Lindstrom does, hard to see them not taking him if he’s available

To me Bedard has the much better hands, shot, and hockey IQ which make him a level about McKenna. I think McKenna will be the Eichel to McDavid type where he was hyped up a lot but doesn’t quite reach that franchise level but is a very good 1C

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Okay, I am going to be nice about this because you seem reasonable.
McKenna is touted even more than Bedard..... McKenna is the next generational player for the NHL and will most likely be the best player in the World if McDavid starts to decline with age. Mckenna had better 16 year old stats than Bedard by a mile and he almost broke 100 points in the WHL at 16 years old. Wait until he is up to be drafted in 2 years.....
Demidov is projected to be a lot like Malkin (just smaller with much better skating), whom you could certainly build your team around.
There are certainly prospects out there that are Franchise level outside of Celebrini. Hagens is another one that I would say has more value as well</div></div>
As I’ve said, prospects are just prospects until they show what they have in the NHL. Nothing guarantees their success - there’s a ton of guys who crushed junior and did nothing in the show and there’s also guys who struggled in junior and even went undrafted and still performed well in the NHL.
As for your point about McKenna - I think he’s overhyped because he’s Bedard’s cousin but he’s definitely not more touted or projected to be better than Bedard (& I’ve watched both in junior quite a bit). I think he has the skills to be elite, but a franchise player that’s better than McDavid or Bedard. That’s way overhyped

I guess you failed to learn to read too, because I said "you or any Leafs fan." Sorry it's so hard for you to use your eyes. I'm using my reading comprehension skills of making an inference (look that word up, it's a big one) that since you're arguing in favor of the guy who said Leonard for Marner, you must also agree with him. Maybe you don't, but maybe you should make it clear, kiddo.
I don't care if Marner is willing to agree to an extension. The fact is he has one year left on his contract. The leafs will get something for Marner, but you're not getting a top prospect. You can think he's being overvalued all day long, but the fact is he has that value because of what he's accomplished at the NCAA level compared to what other stars past and present have accomplished at that same level. You're delusional, and also clearly you've got your feelings hurt over this. Sorry your ego is this fragile, woof.</div></div>

I would put Celebrini, McKenna, Demidov and a few others over Marner's value at the moment (Pure franchise level prospects) obviously these players have yet to be drafted but just drafting them will change your franchise.</div></div>
A “franchise” level prospect is different, obviously. But Leonard is nowhere near a franchise type player. You don’t build around just him.
& ftr.. the only prospect that you mentioned that would be more valuable than Marner currently is Celebrini. & he’s going #1 for good reason - he’s a Jonathan Toews type player you can build around. I’m not sure Demidov or McKenna are franchise players. They may be really good ones, but not franchise. Marner would be more of a franchise player than them

Marner has one year of control. I should've said eight times the asset. The fact that you or any Leafs fan could even entertain the idea of Marner fetching Leonard plus is lunacy.</div></div>
Did you skip kindergarten and miss reading class?
I never mentioned the idea of Marner for Leonard. Not once. I simply said that Leonard is NOT worth “twice the amount” as you stated. He’s a prospect - not all of them work out. You’re WAY overvaluing a prospect that’s never played in the league. The jump from college to the NHL is a huge step, nothing guarantees that he’ll be anywhere near the type of production player as Marner is. It’s also been made well known that any team acquiring Marner would be a team he’d be willing to extend with, thus taking out your “one year rental” argument.
Take off your bias glasses and learn something about hockey.

Lol. “Twice the asset” as a star player when the prospect hasn’t even stepped foot on an NHL ice surface. Leonard is no guarantee of a player. While he may be considered a top prospect, prospects aren’t guarantees. Some work out, some don’t, and some have okay careers. But a prospect is most definitely not worth “twice” the amount as a star player. Whether you like the player or not

Brady Tkachuk is only the 3rd most valuable asset on his own team</div></div>

I would trade a bunch of those guys in a heartbeat for Brady. You don’t find elite power forwards often - how many of them are there in the league? Less than you think.
The fact that you listed Wyatt Johnston, Robert Thomas, Adam Fantilli, and guys like that is the funniest thing I’ve read. Of the list you named, there’s probably 3 guys with more trade value then Brady, arguably 4 (keep in mind trade value doesn’t mean better, I agree Brady isn’t as good as some of them but he’s still more valuable). McDavid, Makar, MacKinnon are for sure more valuable, then you can argue Matt Tkachuk so Brady is at least top 5.

Jeannot likely isn’t moveable without retention. Tampa’s cap situation and his poor play don’t make him that valuable.
I’ve heard some rumblings they might buy him out, which saves them about $1m in cap space this season if they choose that route
Edit: & Tampa definitely isn’t getting anywhere near a 2nd round pick for him. Not to mention that he has a 16 team no trade clause so he’s only want to go to a contender and most of them don’t have cap for a $2.5m 13th forward
