Based on his personal background.
His dad Jeff even works for the team.

Oh I'm sure Chych would love it there but in terms of how Florida spends their cap space, bringing him in and signing an extension might make some of their impending roster decisions for them.
Sawchyn seems like a C prospect, which is okay. By all accounts if he were to add some size to his frame he may blossom into an NHL player, the potential upside could be appealing because 155-165lbs is actually crazy light for someone who stands at 5'11.
Random thought but if Ottawa could pry Knight out of Florida while moving Forsberg the other way to backup for Bob as part of a Chyhrun deal I think a good number of boxes could be checked at once.

You could take the 5th out of the Chych deal and I still think you'd get a yes from sens fans.
1st, 2nd and a prospect checks every box the sens would look for.

If both deal were on the table I think Fabbro and the 2nd might get the nod honestly

Pagnotta thinks we're interested in Zegras, so I made an AGM about it.

In the past, I've heard from folks that actually think this is too much.</div></div>
Was it in an article or something? Tried to look but couldnt find anything from him linking Ottawa to Zegras
Maybe im low on Sawchyn? Can't imagine any florida fans would think the value is low, if anything id imagine the issue would be fit. If they had '24 picks to give I wouldnt mind at all honestly. 1st, 2nd and a prospect is fine by me just the delay in when the picks can be made is tough.

I wouldnt want to move 7th for Zegras even if that was the only thing leaving from Ottawa, he's a good player but the fit is questionable and the holes are to big elsewhere to commit the best tradable asset to Zegras.
The Chychrun trade, especially with 50% retention would also be disappointing. A late '26 1st probably doesnt sniff the NHL until 2028 or 2029 at the earliest and I dont think Sawchyn and a late 2nd next year are enough to make up for that.
Toughest part of the AGM to look at is the goalie tandem still being the same, god i hope they can figure something out to at least change it up a bit if theyre stuck with korpi

Ottawa has an abundance of LD and are in need of RD so swapping Chych for Lauzon wouldnt make a ton of sense.
If something could be done for Fabbro or one of the young goalies the Sens would definitely listen.

Every sens fan loves Pager but two more years at 5m would be a tough pill to swallow with the way the team is constructed right now. Even with the mid 2nd coming back it would be a tough pill to swallow.

Yes Kakko was drafted 2nd but at some point the draft slot shouldnt factor in when there is so much play at the NHL level that we can look at. Excluding his rookie year it's been 3 seasons of disappointment and one year of okay production. There is no way you should be trying to justify getting Barron and a 2nd back.
If you want to a replay of the Andersson trade then go right ahead, I think a late 2nd or early 3rd is fine but five years in no team is giving you someone like Barron plus the pick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ste_Catherine_Street</b></div><div>don't be stupid</div></div>
The value on these trades really depends on the situation. If Brady is forcing his way out of Ottawa then maybe this represents good value but currently his agent has also confirmed that nothing of the sort is true and that there is no request, you have the team saying they want Brady and theyre building the whole team around him and reporters have also looked into it and found no truth to the rumours.
So if we're talking hypotheticals and Rangers fans want to imagine what it could look like if Brady changed his tune then its possible yes. But if you want to make a realistic trade based on the current landscape then no, if the Rangers called and offered this then even with Perreault it's not enough and it would likely take Laf+ as a starting piece to get the conversation going.

Trying to find good vets to surround our youth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Caps trade is fine.
Although I would certainly be interested in a Boucher trade for TVR if the Sens wanted to give it a shot.
I feel like he was a massive reach but still could potentially have a bottom line position in NHL with his play</div></div>
Before Staios came in I wouldve said that Ottawa is too committed with Boucher at this point and that they have no choice but to keep him and ride it out so see what he turn into.
Given the change in management now, probably still unlikely, but who knows how Staios feels about him and he certainly didnt make the pick so its possible. Would love to see the Sens keep him and hopefully se him stay healthy and contribute in a 3rd line role but maybe a change of scenery and vote of confidence could also be helpful for him to truly lock into his full potential.

I believe his name is out there because he's young and the dollars arent bad so might be the type of player that's included if something of value needs to go the other way in a deal to make the cap work.
But i completely agree with both of you he had a great bounce back year and Ottawa should look to keep him, would be a very unfortunate cap casualty.

I would definitely do this from a Sens perspective if Ullmark is willing and the next deal doesnt look crazy.
I'm sure Sens brass got a very good look at Lysell when he was destroying the WHL playoffs on a line with Ostapchuk. Would love to reunite them and the high 2nd going Boston's way is well worth his addition along with offsetting any sort of value difference between Chych and Ullmark.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>systhem</b></div><div>Chyckrun is a a wase of Ullmark. We need centers, not injury prone D man...</div></div>
I think he did a good job trying to shake that label this year. Played a full 82games for the first time in his career and honestly if the coaching change didnt happen when it did he mightve been able to flirt with 60+ points. Started the season off with 21 points in the first 26 games pre-DJ firing. Post coaching change it was 20 points over the last 56 games post-DJ while learning a new system and being moved around constantly.
I do agree that centre needs to be addressed first and foremost in Boston but I also think the Chych could explode offensively and really round out his game on the defensive side with a team that has as much structure and RD depth as Boston does.

Sens fans want to keep Norris because they know what he can do when hes healthy and realize this is selling extremely low.
Flyers fans only see the injury and inherent risk and are probably suspicious of why the 7th overall pick is being included.
If Philly views Norris as a negative asset then automatically Ottawa doesnt look at moving him out and for pure draft capital Philly wins in a landslide for a pending UFA winger. I would hope Ottawa doesnt even consider this but I agree that having both fan bases say no is likely the goal with crafting a fair deal haha

Goaltending and RD are two positions that need to addressed, along with the top 6. So you did check all the boxes just not with the most likely candidates.
History with each of Duke and EK would make bringing either in very unlikely and I dont think Gibson would make a ton of sense either.
Hopefully the top 6 and RD can be addressed through free agency but best case scenario for a goalie would probably be prying one out of Nashville but who knows.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mike7856</b></div><div>Yeah I don’t think we’ll make it barring some great maneuvering by Staios. Too much uncertainty with Norris, Goaltending and weak D and depth will be there undoing. I don’t think they’ll be terrible like last year but probably still on the outside looking in still. But who knows, I guess anything can happen 🤷</div></div>
An imaginary world where Norris is 100% healthy and can be leaned on with a 30-40G, 60-70P season over 82 games would completely change the outlook of the team.
Reality, unfortunately, is that Ottawa does have good pieces in place but RD and goaltending need to be addressed. I know there is talk about Staios bringing in another top6 piece and Jospeh along with the Bos 1st were mentioned as pieces that might go the other way to facilitate these acquisitions.
It's not impossible for them to make the playoffs but even if they knock it out of the park and fill all the holes they have I have to agree it would still be an outside shot. Build and progress is all we can really ask for as fans.

Can Sanheim play the right side? Chychrun is being talked about because Ottawa already has Sanderson and Chabot locked up on the left but even if he can I dont think Laughton and 32nd rounding out the package would be overly appealing.
If you're willing to trade Konecny then I can promise you Ottawa would definitely be interested in a swap centred around those two.

Taking A Chance
If Konecny and Chychrun hold similar value then 7th and Norris for Atkinson (even with retention), Zamula and a 3rd is highway robbery.
Ottawa doesnt view Norris as a negative asset but this trade is trying to say otherwise. The injury history is troubling but when hes healthy he's a stud and when he's not he's on LTIR which could theoretically make for a vgk cap scenario if Ottawa could ever find its way into the playoffs.
Maybe make a separate trade Konecny and Norris to make it easier to understand your thinking but as is, definitely a no.
