Chicago Blackhawks signed Zachary Sanford (1 Year / $775,000 AAV)
Good deal if only to add one extra roadblock before they would have to call up Seney and Philp again

He plays 25 ATOI, against the opponent's top line, and he essentially had a rookie Dpair last year. He might be overpaid by $500k to $1M, but we can't replace him. There are zero UFAs that can do when he does. Would create such a massive hole on the Hawks if we trade him away.</div></div>
sounds like you've done a pretty good job talking yourself into it.

Off Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>The thing is how much leadership is needed? They have veteran leaders in Foligno, Hall, Murphy, Jones, Dickinson already… that’s a quarter of the roster in just those guys. Additionally, you want to have some of the young guys to step up and assert themselves and take on leadership roles. If Davidson is just going to do favours and take on bad contracts for pennies on the dollar, then he should have just extended Kane.
Look cap is king, it is one of the most valuable assets the Hawks have left to deal, don’t give it away.</div></div>
Agree with all this, plus Chicago is kind of at the point where they won't be taking bad contracts for picks anymore, unless someone is willing to overpay to move someone. Two 2nds is the absolute minimum I'd take to bring Lee in but if I'm KD, I'm still going to try and squeeze more out of NYI.

IDK what the actual price will be...I'm not KD.</div></div>
Yeah I think it takes more than a single 2nd. Especially a late 2nd in a relatively weak draft. It's still a $7m cap hit for two seasons for a guy who turns 34 in July. Lee is already not playing up to his contract. Odds are his play probably falls off even more over the next two seasons given the way he plays the game.

Gonna cost more than a 2nd to move Lee. Chicago is probably interested, but that deal doesn't get it done.

Any and every Hawks fan is well aware the team is rebuilding.
You appear to have a hard time accepting that Chicago isn't trading Jones for scraps.

Yes, but Jones fits the rebuilding window EXTREMELY well. He serves a purpose. And he has more value to Hawks than he does in a trade. You have a hard time accepting that obvious fact.
Go try and pull another teams RHD.

The Hawks have 0 RHD prospects close to NHL. Jones is a solidifying veteran on the right side for years with the young LHD. Jones may be overpaid, but the Hawks don't need the cap space. He helps them get to the floor. And by the time they need more cap space the cap will be rising.
RHD is a difficult position to fill with top line talent. And I will argue that while Jones is not a #1 D, he is a 1st pair RHD in the NHL.
I wouldn't pay more than a 4th for Robertson. He has a terrible injury history. Lillypad is not worth the extra.
You have posted about a half-dozen of various Jones to Leafs acgm's. Hawks have no need to trade him, no desire to trade him, and WILL NOT retain in trade of him. Talk to the Hawks in 4 years, maybe they will trade him with retention then.

Are you kidding me with "overpayment"?
1. Hawks are not interested in trading Jones. Trading him creates a bigger hole on the team.
2. Hawks are NOT retaining on Jones for 6 years.
3. Lilly and Robertson do not have the value you think you are offering in this trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>VamosGatos</b></div><div>Honestly would not call it absurd at all if you watch every game. Saves you almost 3mil in cap space to keep Montour and Reinhart and I think anyone would take that over Ekblad 100/100 times. Guy is a shell of his former self due to all of his leg injuries. Far fetched? Sure. Said that in the description. But not sure who bites on a trade for a declining RD on a 7.5mil deal.
I</div></div>
Ekblad with retention could probably both bring back assets and leave you with less term than a buyout would. To a team like FLA with cup aspirations, he is certainly a liability, but for a team like CHI he could be a great mentor, player/coach, and a great baseline for what our young players need to surpass if they want to take a roster spot. I also think that he is young enough that he could still possibly rebound, with the right care and training routine. But playing in the playoffs year after year is not going to help him fix his body. Before his injuries, he was absolutely one of the best, if not the best, defensemen in the NHL.
So, I would definitely explore a trade long before a buyout, if I were FLA's gm. And I definitely think CHI could possibly have interest in both players.

If you are selling low on Ekblad there will be loads of interest around the league
