With the recent news of the Growlers ceasing operations and leaving us with no pro hockey team, it recently reminded me just how much it sucks to be a hockey fan in NL

Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL) - 2018-2024
St. John's Ice Caps (AHL) - 2011-2015
St. John's Ice Caps (AHL) (2nd Time) - 2015-2017
St. John's Maple Leafs (AHL) - 1991-2005
St. John's Fog Devils (QMJHL) - 2005-2008

As a Newfoundlander born and raised, and a die-hard hockey fan it pains me to constantly have a cycle of teams just being yanked from us every time.

I understand travel fees here are higher, but it really sucks having your favourite local team be disbanded over and over, I hope the Growlers get brought back in the future or that another team can come in. We have the arena, the fans, we just need a long term team
