Debatable we gave him a couple extra years to keep the AAV down, Jets will be entering a new era new core at the end and looking for lottery picks anyways

I would decline if I’m Chicago, taking a $5.95m contract off Winnipeg’s hands should cost the Jets more than dropping 10 - 12 picks in the draft. I can’t see the Hawks sending back more then A 6th or 7th round pick… maybe even just FC.

Yeah, Hawks aren’t moving back to help the Jets get Schmidt off the books. Hawks might have interest in him but there is no way they are making this particular trade.
