He was on the top line at times last year just to balance the lines and because he's fast and they like how he forechecks. And it gives them another center who can take faceoffs and refs like to throw guys out all the time.

He was on the top line when Larkin was out, was quickly ousted by Compher, and Detroit’s record was horrible during that time.
