Surrounding Quinn with his besties for a tougher playoff roster

Description
Tanev is a clear target in the offseason, regardless of other moves by the team.

I got a little creative with the Tkachuk trade. No idea if this package would entice the Sens enough, but I figured they could trade Chychrun in a separate deal and run a top 4D of Sanderson - Hronek, Chabot - Zub. Long-term the addition of Lekkerimaki up front is Tkachuk's top-4 winger replacement. Elite prospect at this point.

I feel like those two additions (Tkachuk and Tanev) would elevate Petey's game and make Quinn very happy. Tkachuk-Petey could end up being one of the best forward duos in the league.

That Tkachuk trade isn't even remotely close.

Think about what you'd want for Petty and then work back.

For sure it might require more, but it's a solid base for an offer. Hronek is worth at least a 1st + 2nd, and Lekks is an elite prospect.

No thanks. Id do that deal if Hronek would be replaced with a top 7 pick somehow

The type of player you are getting is a bit of a unicorn and he's super important to Ottawa.

Value might be close objectively but not to the sens.

I get that. Not many players offer the overall package that Tkachuk does.

I'm not a Sens fan I just know he isn't someone they will replace easily.

Pettersson is worth significantly more than Brady. Pettersson is a borderline top 5C who can put up 100 points with great defense. Tkachuk is a fringe PPG winger who is great physically but can’t play defense

Huge fan of Lekkerimaki, but not so high on Hronek as some others might be.

Theres no slam dunk piece in here. Lekkerimaki will be a 2nd liner that plays top PP, think Batherson and Hronek to me will still be an offensive #3 guy. Its meh

Brady is a great player. Pettersson is better and worth more. Nothing of what I said there is wrong

I genuinely think that Tkachuk would fetch more in a trade. Not arguing that right now Petty is the better player but Brady's potential is insane. His brother was similar to him before taking off and becoming a world beater. Brady could do the same.

Moving Petey would be a massive mistake. It might be fun to play around with ideas in ACGM's, but VAN has nobody to realistically replace him. You could say the same about Tkachuk for OTT. But I would tend to value the center position higher even if the players are on par.

I think a return for either would be pretty close to the same. Petey is the C, but Brady brings the more physical presence that GM's loooove.

As I’ve told you before, there’s a loud minority of irrational Canucks fans who inexplicably hate Pettersson. Every rational Canucks knows how great he is despite his recent struggles, and know how bad of a move it would be to trade him

yeah thats the thing. Everyone wants to trade their like 5'10 or 5'11 point producing winger for Brady and bring production into the equation. If Im moving brady i dont care about a player with 20 extra points a season if it means losing what Brady brings

Pettersson is only 1 year older than Brady so the potential argument doesn’t make much sense to me. When Pettersson was Brady’s age he put up 100 points with Selke level defense. With Pettersson being a better player, playing the more premium position, and having 8 years of term, he’s undoubtedly more valuable than Brady. And that’s not a knock against Brady, who is still a great player and worth a lot in a hypothetical trade
