When I read the contract, my first thought was "8 and a half years?". Then I realized it was 7 years, 8.5 million. I guess I was not expecting the amount to be north of 8. I would pass, that's a ton for a winger, and it's giving up kulich and pick 11 to do it.

At some point, the gm has to target players that he needs to win. There's some guys that you pay a premium for, because you won't win without them. Nobody is skipping ufa to give the Sabres a sweet deal, it'll be a ufa contract. So for adams to give up an A prospect and pick 11 for konecny, just to pay him a ufa contract, he better be damned sure it's the right guy.
