The flow chart is basically

-Somehow Marner removes his NMC, because he’d rather play with Kopitar than Matthews
- LA after being patient with Byfield over 3 seasons, sells him when he finally breaks out
-Byfield gratiously takes a discount to his new team
-LA sweetens a deal for basically a rental for who they want to build around with another first and Spence, also Akil Thomas because why not

I appreciate that you definitely took time to think what one of the teams would really like, but LA declines and loses your number.

I think Marner would waive to go to LA, the weather is nice it’s Hollywood and they are a playoff team. Also I would think if the leafs would be asking for maybe Byfeild coming back in a potential Marner deal the rest idk I just assumed lol also I’m sure Mitch’s dad wouldn’t mind him playing in California since he’s heavily involved with Mitch’s negotiations as reported.

Kings say no because Sam McMaster has not been GM for 25 years.

The Flames likely accept that. LA doesn't, and the Byfield extension isn't close.

I wouldn't trade Byfield for Marner 1-for-1. Take all the rest of that stuff out and still no.

Say it with me Leaf fans. We aren’t going to get near the return you think you will. Full NMC and every reason why you want to move him is the reason the return won’t be what you think it is.

LA wouldn’t do Byfield 1 for 1 and he’s certainly not signing for 3 million after a 20 goal and 55 point season lol

Why do so many Toronto guys try to shoehorn Marner and his $10.9 million cap hit into cap-stressed rosters like Minnesota ($14.75 million dead cap next season) or Los Angeles ($20.9 million to re-sign Quinton Byfield and fill both goalie positions and eight other roster slots)? We can't afford Marner at his current cap hit next season or at his new figure if extended, and trying to make up the cap difference by subtracting numerous quality players from the current roster just exacerbates the cap problem because it creates additional open roster slots that have to be filled. Please go play pretend-Marner-is-going-somewhere with teams like Utah and Chicago and Nashville and Columbus.

You Leafies need to explore trading Marner to NJD for Hughes + Nemec or Mercer + Nemec + 2024 1st. No doubt they'll love you for it.
