Reid Dyck Scouting Reports

It was a struggle to start the season, at the Buffalo Sabres Prospect Challenge, for Dyck
His areas of weakness were exposed by the more seasoned young pros
Too active in his crease. He gave up far too many second chances off his active pads.
Tracking the play and squaring up was also an issue.
There is much to like about his upside. He's big, athletic, and quick. When he isn't timing things properly and giving up too many second chances he struggles. Needs time and coaching,

A trend has developed with Reid's game. A butterfly goalie with decent gloves. He does have habit of back handing pucks which lead to some bobbles at times. He moves side to side fluidly. At times he shows he has the ability to steal a game. Other times he seems to lose his focus and allow a poor goal at the wrong time. For today's NHL he has the frame and mechanics to be an NHL goalie but his consistency will have to improve.

The top goalie at The Prospects Game. Time will tell if his performance translates.
Lateral push was excellent. Tracked the play in front of him and below the goal line. Side to side he made some outstanding pad saves. Displayed quick reflexes. A 3 stop sequence (2 pad stops followed by a glove save) showed he can make a series of reaction saves and catch pucks clean. Good size. A butterfly goalie who has some (athletic) and (hybrid) in his style.
