Who is the best young LHD we could get for 10th overall pick
Besides Vlasic and Korchinski… Hawks have Ethan Del Maestro, Nolan Allan, Isaak Phillips, Louis Crevier, and Wyatt Kaiser all LHD vying for the LD3 position. 10th for 20th and one of these guys would be your best chance.

I posed that exact trade. #10 for #20 + #34 and NJD fans universally said no. I think in reality this isn't a great draft and after the first roughly 8 players, the difference between 10 and 20 is probably equal and then on top of it you get a 34th pick which will likely be a guy ranked in the 20s that has been overlooked.

Dude added $18.5M in cap and Hawks are STILL over $10M in space. lol
I do expect Davidson to try to make some draft day moves a la Mrazek deal. There are some teams in the 10-16 range who I think are OK moving down a few spots.

Cap Floor and Captain Kane
1) Agree with <a href="/users/hawksfan1988" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@hawksfan1988</a>. He can also set the assists and points record for Americans too.
2) Agree with <a href="/users/PaulKorea" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@PaulKorea</a> that 4 years is 1 year too long but it may be what it takes to get Kane back in the fold. They could always buy him out, move him, or LTIR him that 4th year. But Hawks may not be in any cap trouble at that time anyway so it may still work out.
3) You missed a golden opportunity to have an All-1OA line in Hall - Bedard - Kane

SEA needs a superstar to get to next level
I think that’s a no from Seattle. I don’t disagree Marner would be a great fit but I don’t think Seattle wants to give up assets. They’re building from within and would likely make a splash for Marner in FA.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SociallyHawkward</b></div><div>Buffalo is better off eating another year or 2 of skinner. Right now it'd cost that 1st with nothing coming back the other way.</div></div>
This isn’t the package but if our guy is available at 11 (my vote is Yakemchuk if they take Demidov, if Lev then Iginla) it sure would be nice to move up.

If you change the pick to the 2024 1st and then remove all of the players the Hawks will accept.

I think 4 years for Kane and 7 for Stamkos are way too long, by probably double. Kane should get 2 years. If he stays consistent, he should break all time assists and points record by an American. if not, and he can stay healthy, he can sign a 1 year deal afterwards.
And you don't want to be paying a 41 year old Stamkos.

Devils 1st round swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div>A team that has a good plethora of prospects is unlikely to trade down to take, in theory, less quality prospects.</div></div>
But where I’m coming from is all of your top picks and good prospects are entering the NHL or have been in NHL now. You traded Shakir M and 2023 1st to SJS. So the prospect pool has become thinner. The NHL team loaded IMO and this provides you with 2 picks to get first round talent instead of 1 pick at 10 and then waiting until mid 3rd round to pick 75th. You’d be getting quality players at 20 and 33. 33 is still nearly a first round pick and as you know teams begin to reach in the 20s dropping 1st round talent into 2nd round. Example: Andrew Cristall.
It also helps as your team continues to be a solid NHL team for hopefully a decade you’ll still need to refresh the lineup. Having 2 players who can be impactful NHLers along the way is beneficial for cap reasons and team reasons.
I don’t think this is as clear cut a no as folks seem to suggest.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NJDevils1317</b></div><div>Yeah, as was mentioned above, this doesn't make any sense for the Devils. They don't need to stock up on quantity like a rebuild, if anything this should be like when TB had an off year and drafted early and add to the core.
Or trade back slightly in a case like Gustavsson from MINN and get someone at 13.</div></div>
Got it. Appreciate the insight! Good luck at draft. I am rooting for the devils. Exciting young team. You love to see it.

Appreciate the source I’ll check it out. The source I used gave 10OA a 354.44, 20OA 227.56 and 33OA 126.90. That adds up to 354.46. Almost identical. That’s why I pursued this. FYI.

That is a big no. I at least used the website/chart the GMs use in quantifying a draft pick and it came out nearly exact meaning this trade is even as it is. I’m not replacing the #33OA with a high end prospect in Rinzel. Rinzel was picked #25 and he’s looking like a steal with top 4 potential.

I think this looks insane. But I always have to temper my excitement. Moore and Nazar aren’t guarantees. Gajan is 4 years away from sniffing NHL (look at Spencer Knight and Askarov for example). Although there is so much optimism I always take it with some salt.
Not only does the above roster look good though, it doesn’t even include any of the 2nd and 3rd rounders who are progressing well like Lardis, Dach, Greene, Hayes and Savoie.

I’d want to suss out how his mental health is doing first. And trade should likely be Knight for Jaxson Stauber. Gives you a similarly aged AHL goalie though limited NHL potential.

yeah this is defo our year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>I don't even see how it is possible to disagree. Every team in the league would probably take Tavares for free if they could fit him in under the cap. Most teams would probably do it anyway and worry about creating cap space later. Not only that, but he is still a very good top 6 forward in the NHL. So, it isn't like we would be bringing in some overpaid bum. If he is willing to waive his full NMC for CHI this summer, he is probably also willing to waive at the trade deadline. Which would make him one of the biggest deadline trade chips of the last 20 years. Which means we get a good player for $900k in salary, and then flip him for valuable assets rather than spending valuable assets on a risky acquisition in the middle of a rebuild.
Tavares for free > Marner and a risky long term extension for a package of valuable assets ... All day, IMO. It might make more sense to go after Marner for some teams, but not CHI.</div></div>
Sir, in what world is Marner a risky acquisition? The guy puts up 85-99 points per year. He’s a magician on the ice.
Also I feel like this is a moot point because why tf would Toronto give up Tavares for future considerations? It’ll cost you something to get him.
