Maybe a trade partner in Anahiem
You’re going to have a lot of trouble finding anyone in Anaheim who wants to pay Marner $11.5M, let alone giving up both Zegras and Luneau (+ draft capital!) in order to do so

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yeeteridoo</b></div><div>Habs will never trade their top prospects/young players for a guy that got 65 points once and only gotten worse since. The mittelstadt trade was a player for player trade, you won't get that with mtl as it would be a lateral move at best. Gauthier trade is not a comparable as it's a very unique situation and philly had to get rid of him. Zegras will go for an assortment of assets wherever he goes. Won't be a swap I guarantee it.</div></div>
🤦♂️ your ignorance is showing
Please please do take the perspective that you shouldn’t be trading for Zegras and spread it around MTL though. These wildly redundant proposals for an unavailable player have beaten this horse well beyond recognition

That ANA trade is honestly hilarious.
Ducks have zero interest in any of the three pieces you added and you think you’re getting a first+?
Kampf = salary dump, pass for FC
Robo = Too small for a depth player on a Verbeek/Cronin team, maybe at the TDL for a 4th/5th rounder after we move Vatrano
Lilj = Terrible fit in ANA, we don’t want him. Our RD need is for a big, defensively minded RHD, that is not 6’ 190lb Lilj

Ducks are ineligible to retain salary at the moment.</div></div>
And we’d like Mikheyev removed, but that’s probably not a necessity, and the value here is worth it with him in the mix. Agreed this would be way more interesting for ANA at the TDL though. I don’t see Vatrano on the move until then

Let’s give a smidge of credit at the same time here:
Value wise: this is reasonable
Pieces given up by ANA being available: ✅
Addresses position of need for the Ducks: yes
Issues:
1. Gibby publicly said no to TOR less than 2 years ago and has a NTC
2. Marner’s contract demands will likely scare off Verbeek, especially since he doesn’t play the hard nose style Verbeek prefers
All this said, a top line of Gauthier - Leo - Marner would be all sorts of nasty

I think that it will take Tyson Foerster and your 2024 first to get Zegras out of Anaheim.</div></div>
This, but we’d probably have to add a little sweetener on our side. I personally love where Philly is in the draft at 12OA too. A Helenius/Yakemchuk level player would be such a good addition

2 Waives Hit the Toronto Beaches
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FireShanahanTrelivingKeefe</b></div><div>And in 2 years ANA has dropped further into the toilet and you still think how he felt 2 years ago is how he feels now?
I just find it funny when other people believe they now for sure what players will do !
Their minds change from week to week let alone 2 years ago!
Maybe 2 years ago he felt they were on a upward trend and not going into the basement further!
You can make all the comments you want but none of us now what theses players are thinking right now!
I just try to make trades to teams to fill needs and MIGHT work for both teams.</div></div>
2 years ago we were at the early stages of a rebuild diving deeper into the toilet. We now finally have a large group of super promising young players to build around. But honestly that’s completely irrelevant.
At no point did I say he’s going to remain a Duck. We said he isn’t waiving for Toronto. And to think a single thing has changed in terms of why he would’ve vetoed Toronto 2 years ago, to why he’d now waive for them is total ignorance. It was widely believed that every Canadian team was on his no trade list prior to that comment in the first place. He’s a quiet dude that isn’t even a media guy by Anaheim’s standards, dude would hate it there.
If you want to make a trade that might work for both teams, I recommend 2 tweaks:
1. Trade for someone who didn’t make a public statement to the world saying they don’t want to play for TOR while holding a NTC
2. Offer assets the other team will actually value (0 for 2 on this one)

That said, if he’s such a stud for only $2.1M, Toronto should really be keeping him eh bud? Weird how 9/10 ACGMs out of Toronto want him gone 🤔

Much better defensively.
Provides PK value that Zegras doesn’t.
And Zegras didn’t get a great bargain on his contract.
Mercer due to health provided more value than Zegras this year.
Mercer played flat out better than zegras last year.</div></div>
Goals per game: equal, not better
Mercer’s relative possession metrics at even strength: negative every year of his career for -2.6Corsi and -2.5Fenwick. Zegras is positive each year for +5.6 / +4.5
PK: Mercer plays PK and Zegras doesn’t. Unfortunately, Mercer again has a negative possession impact on his team comparatively for -1.9/-0.8
Power play: Mercer unsurprisingly maintains negative possession metrics, and has 20 pp points to his name. Zegras is +1.6/+0.9 and has 35
You won’t find a single ANA fan upset at Zegras in the $5Ms
I’ll give you health with a perfect health record for Mercer. Thats awesome. But at the same time Zegras had zero meaningful injuries dating back to pre-draft up until this season with 2 unrelated injuries. Also not worried about injury prone, but 100% gotta give health to Mercer
Last year Zegras played through the same injury that limited Couture to 6 games and then broke his ankle. The last 8 games of the season were the only healthy games he played at full minutes and he scored a point per game
I’m not saying any of this to disparage Mercer. But more just to say that pretending Mercer is outright better than Zegras is just kinda funny, and not borne out by really any statistical measure

Järnkrok is a Swiss Army knife that is on a good contract also at 2.1 and will be a second liner on Utah. Also penalty kills effectively and will get you 40 points a season.
Liljegren would fit perfectly with a young d core Anaheim is trying to build at a good deal with term. What exactly are you talking about? If anaheims Gm wants to go after a bigger fish it’s going to cost much more than 1 second rounder and it’s going to be much more costly</div></div>
I’m sorry but you really should listen to the opinion of a fan on his own team. NYI is right. The Ducks need a big, defensive minded top 4 RHD to pair with one of their 2 sophomore season, mobile LHDs in Mintyukov or Zellweger. Think a Matt Roy, Brett Pesce type player. Heck if we could just clone Gudas that’d be perfect. 6’0 190lb Lilj is a really poor fit.
Nobody is saying he’s a trash player. We’re saying that he doesn’t fit the needs ANA has other than that he’s a right hand dman. He won’t be a Duck, youll need to fish for that 2nd elsewhere
