That’s a fair assessment. I won’t argue that at all. If we can keep him for like 2 years at $2M a year I would be ecstatic, just concerned over Trelivings love for guys like Edmundson

I wish such was true, I do like him as a shut down guy he hits well and block a ton of shots. Yes there are bad giveaways and he’s not quick or amazing at moving the puck, but look what Justin Holl got last year, team were offering $3M + a year and he ended up getting $3.4M for 3 years. He is far far much better than Holl who can’t do any of the things Edmundson does. So I see him getting a deal like this

At any rate, he's probably acutely aware that theyve exhausted all the tinkering options they could. Granted they were, like in half of their other series losses, exactly one shot away from advancing, but it's much harder to sell fans on that now. New HC will likely get a different make up to the team to ensure they hit the ground running.</div></div>
He is becoming the New president of MLSE he’s gonna be covering a lot of different things, and will soon take over completely from Larry Tanembaum, he will get the say on what happens for the Leafs.

As a Leafs fan I would love Jared Spurgeon, he’s underrated and can move the puck decently as well….although that contract will age horribly and we are over cap in this scenario, kampf wont be on LTIR so this would be a move only if say Marner or Tavares got moved and I just don’t see it happening unfortunately

I see him as a good 2nd line guy in the future. He skates well and has some speed, can be productive offensively and has some good defensive instincts. He might become a 40ish point 15 goal producer in the NHL but be solid option on both the 2nd Power play unit and a good Penalty killer in the future.

It's been 4 years since Brodie got 5Mx4.</div></div>
Absolutely, couldn’t agree more. If the cap keeps going up $4-$6 million a year in 2-3 years we could be at $100 million so ya I wouldn’t be shocked to see some bigger cap hits for Defencemen, especially the ones who are RHD and good puck movers

What if we kept the core for some reason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>No reason for VG to trade Hill or consider that offer either. Matt Roy will cost more (5M+ easily), there's no way Edmundson would make more than him on the same team. Goaltending isn't a major issue, signing a cheap guy (~2.5M), and then looking to potentially rent Saros or someone else during the season is probably a better idea. The Main FA target should be 1) Montour 2) Pesce 3/4) Lindholm or Roy. Maybe get someone else instead of DeMelo that they don't have to commit term to if they have money left. Re-signing Domi might not be a bad idea either.
The Leafs are probably just better off letting Tavares go after this season or re-signing him to a 1-year deal if they still need a 2C.</div></div>
Well said. My ideology with Adin Hill trade is if u look at the cap situation in Vegas it’s very very tight given all the extension money handed out, Hill is going into final year and $4.9 off the books could surely help them shore up the D core and add depth forwards. JT seems like he wants to be here, and only here, kinda like the Stamkos situation in Tampa. That’s his team now for rest of career. So keeping him on at a $5-$6 million cap hit I wouldn’t hate, cap will be roughly $92-$96 million in 2025-26 if it keeps going up the way it is, so having him as a 2 or 3 centre wouldn’t be horrible. With Matt Roy I may very well be off and I can agree to that, I was just thinking he can be a giveaway machine sometimes, has had 2 healthy years now but before that was a bit injury prone, but RHD are a premium and they tend to get more than we all think. I personally would resign Domi also, the issue, u need to prioritize the D-Core then depth scoring before he comes into play, our D over achieved in the playoffs and just struggling moving the puck and we also just couldn’t score so gotta fill the team before giving out $4M+ to domi, I rather 2 $2M guys who put up 30-40 points each over 1 Domi who’s gonna put up 30-40 points.

Originally I had a first round pick in there, I took it out thinking it might be to much given Bourgault has a fair amount of upside to be a top 6 forward in the NHL with good speed, good scoring ability and has some above average defensive capabilities. It will cost a lot to take that deal and Edmonton needs to find a way out to gain some more space. I could see teams asking for at minimum Broberg, 1st round pick and Bourgault per say, which is a lot but cap space is the most valuable thing so I might’ve been off quite a bit for sure.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SharkTank</b></div><div>Larry Lowballing on Roy by 1.5-2 mil.</div></div>
Maybe, maybe not. It’s hard to say. Matt Roy tends to hit and is a solid puck mover. He’s a good 2nd pair option from the right side. His issues are he tends to give the puck away quite a bit and miss reads forwards attacking the net hard and he can get beat as he’s not a very fast skater and he’s average going backwards. He’s also 29 which I know isn’t old by hockey standards but aside from his last 2 years he’s been injury prone quite a bit. So to me u could very much be right and I’d be interested to see what he gets and how much a team values him. RHD are a premium after all and I wouldn’t be surprised to see guys get way more than we all think.

That might be true, I just thought of Laughton for Karlsson and then it’s Hague for Frost. Frost doesn’t seem to fit with the style that Torts puts out and Laughton is hit and miss but more less a baby version of Karlsson just on the wing. I feel Karlsson and Hague just fit the flyers way more and given the contract of Karlsson the value may seem low for him and Hague, but teams value cap space a lot.

While I like the ideas you got going on and the players, the Value might be a little off. Gotta remember Marner gets to choose where to go and he’s on an expiring deal. No extension in place for the deal means less compensation coming back. Next thing is the money for some guys.
Durzi will be getting at minimum $4 million a year he’s a great pick moving RHD and those are a premium so he will get some dough, then Dewar, he’s not even a guarantee to be tendered a qualifying offer to retain his rights by the leafs so $1.8 a year is a lil pricey he’s more around the 2 year $1 million range maybe $1.1M. Domi, Myers and Pesce I like those numbers and agree on them, the only other one I look and and raise an eyebrow is Brossoit. He’s a hell of goalie and was Vegas’ starter GOIGN into playoffs last year as he was very very good. He performed again this year and was making $1.5M I believe? He’s at least getting $3M a year on open market and for 2-3 years he can play 30-40 games and be a very reliable and consistent player.

Sheary was playing on a Line with those 2 for a lot of the season hence I left him there, Perbix and Raddysh are fairly interchangeable, Cirelli has not been all that good the past 2 years since getting this deal, you want Stamkos back he’s gotta go he’s got no trade protection at all either so it’s easier to move him and get a cheaper RHD that’s shut down.

Then u have the Golds and the Platniums (lower bowl & First 5-6 rows up from glass) going for $800-$2000 a seat!! Not only are we getting screwed on the ice but in our pockets as well, and the Leafs are one of the richest teams in the league. Been a die hard since I was born and I can’t even think about going to a playoff game cause I can’t pay for them. <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MediocrityAccetableInToronto</b></div><div>I disagree about Treliving. It isn't his fault Klignberg was out for the season, he was supposed to be a major asset on the power play. Treliving has only been here one season, deserves some time. Also Cowan as a late 1st rounder looks like a steal as of now. But yes Dubas emptied the draft board for pure rentals and some really atricious trades, although he did have some good ones (Muzzin, Campbell). The Tavares contract was abysmal and sooo unnecessary, that has handcuffed the team financially for years and the contracts of Matthews, Marner and Nylander are a joke, should have been tougher in negotiations. There are stars around the league that have signed for less on their teams for the sake of building team that is capable of getting out of the first round. If I was GM I'd trade Marner and Rielly for draft picks and prospects and go out and try to sign a Skjei, Demelo and Stamkos this offseason. Letting a 50 goal guy and penalty killer in Hyman for 5.5 million go is unforgivable. RIP Amirov but I was hoping they would've drafted Schneider ahead of him defence first right hand shot.</div></div>
I will start with Klingberg. He had a a history of injury and when he was signed actually didn’t pass the physical, it showed a minor issue with his hip and Treliving signed him anyway. Now, I get what the idea was but it was doomed from the get go. I get it’s been one season, but his trades were not good given what he gave up and what the price around the league ended up being, he got desperate and failed. Next Cowan looks good but again we don’t need forwards, he wasn’t best player available and was a reach at the time as he wasn’t projected by a single person until mid 2nd round. Now trading Marner or Rielly is impossible. Both have Full NMC meaning we can’t even send them to the minors without them agreeing, Marner is a hometown boy so he won’t waive not a single thought about it and Rielly is making $7.5M a year so that’ll not only be hard cause he’s got the NMC but cause he’s expensive and not many teams if any would take that. The rest I do agree with Demelo is the guy I want. Him and Walker are the 2 big RHD this team needs so desperately, we can’t afford them though. Stamkos will not come here either. He’s gonna be in Tampa one way or another or if he does for some reason not stay there he’s going to stay south in the US, again we Cannot Afford him.

I understand the hesitation to question the selection though given what has happened and I apologize. May he be playing hockey wherever he may be now🙏

That’s why I sent it as a 1 for 1, with that exact scenario happening, Monohan leave in offseason, dune becomes expendable for someone who can be an upgrade to a 2/3C guy and Pelletier take over as well either as a winger or Centerman, also given they picked up Toffoli I thought maybe a play making guy for the 2/3C spot would help give the team 2-3 lines of scoring, leafs then take the cheaper guy who still has potential but is high risk, high reward
