<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>I see this sentiment from virtually every fan of the team - why rush to trade Gus in what we know is Fleury's last season? - so I'm really hoping the team feels this way too. Just makes way more sense to keep him than move him this summer.</div></div>

This will be a long post/reply. I think Gus's value is low right now. If it were a year ago we probably get double. I'll post the positive and negatives with him as a player. Ultimately it comes down to what the convos are behind the scenes. If he can understand what is being asked of him and execute he is a Top 5 goalie in the league. He's shown it for 3/4's of a season. If he can't show up in shape and ready to go, he will be a career back up.

Positives: Young and hasn't hit his prime. Has shown flashes of Vezna level play for 3/4's of a season. Team rallies behind him. Good contract. Got better at the end of the past season. Played way better in the IIHF tournament. Has a large sample size, he didn't show flashes in a small amount of games, so he could be that #1 guy. His down year was also when the team just didn't play well all year.

Negatives: Didn't play/live up to standards before arriving to Minnesota. Didn't lift team this past year, you kinda want the goal tender to win you a few games and he didn't do that. Has conditioning issues, doesn't show up to camp in shape ready to go. Was his first year with us a fluke?

I'm sure there is more but ultimately if Billy G doesn't by in to the fact he gets it, I can see him being moved. If you think he can bounce back you don't trade him and you roll with Wallstedt and Gus after this year. Wallstedt needs more games this year to continue his growth. Trading a goalie you believe in and has shown flashes of high play isn't worth a 2nd rounder. If you don't believe in him and think it was a fluke you trade him to the highest bidder.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caerii</b></div><div>I just don't value Holtz all that much.

I mostly just wouldn't trade Rossi unless there's some type of forward upgrade or similar player coming back. Knies is one guy I'd do it for. Obviously the Cutter Gauthier talks would have been good with me. There's plenty of other young guys or prospects, but Holtz is currently worse and doesn't project to be better, as a winger. Marino is what he is at this point, an inconsistent 2nd pair guy. Neither of those pieces excite me more than Rossi and I'd be looking for someone that excites me as much or more than Rossi does.

For the record, I understand why people like Holtz and are drawn to him as a target, he's just not for me. I might be trying to put together a list (thread) of my ideal Rossi targets, but I don't want to commit to that yet.</div></div>

I've been trying to do that in my Mock trades. Targeting guys for us down the road. We certainly don't have to move Rossi. If we aren't going to get fair value for him I would keep him here then. I do understand Yurov may be the 1C we all want. I think Knies or Cutter would have been fun trades. I will admit, I don't see why the hype with Heidt is more than what it was with Rossi. I didn't watch his games either so I may be missing something. Heidt was a lower pick but the point production and size are similar to Rossi. Is it because he is younger and his ELC is just kicking in. Thats another reason we give up on Rossi?
