I really have no idea how to gauge his value. He's obviously a force offensively, and I figured an overpay would be the only way to do it without giving up one of the other two centers. Removing one of Savoie or the 2024 1st probably still gets it done, right?

Why would the Sabres do that? They have UPL to resign and Levi. No need to give up assets for a position they have younger and cheaper.

It definitely isn't farfetched to think he would waive for Buffalo. I'm sure his uncle would be a large factor in it, but seeing how the city has treated him and the team is ready to compete, it would make sense.

Oh I know they're not getting Brady and most likely not getting anything other than Patrick Kane or some veteran 3C this offseason. I just like Brady a lot.

If we are gonna find a good two way center, my guess is ostlund, but as he just came over, gonna take some time. Yes, I'm hoping ruff is able to really develop cozens two way game, a healthy Quinn should help cozens line, if not cozens himself.</div></div>
I think Granato really put an emphasis on making Quinn a good two-way forward, and you're spot in with him helping Cozens get back to what he was. I think Ostlund is going to the best two-way center of the bunch, but his draft classmates will probably in the NHL sooner. It is a good problem to have, but I wouldn't be surprised (and it is what they should do) if they moved one of those three or Rosen this summer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I see where you're going, I'd add more grit to the forwards, especially the middle 6. I don't think adams will do it either, but I think its necessary to take the next step. I don't think you can run kulich out as the 3c, he's got the same defensive deficiencies as Thompson and cozens. Sturm will help, but I think you've still gotta add another two way center. I think it's reasonable to say that you want 3 scoring lines, unfortunately somebody has to pk and take d zone starts, and if your top 2 centers are lacking, you've gotta do what makes sense.</div></div>
I don't disagree with anything you're saying. I don't think Kulich has much left to prove in the AHL and with Roy, Sturm, and Hayton in the bottom six, one of them could easily be your 3C and then put Kulich at the wing. I would like Kulich to be a center long term, but he may the one they shift to wing and he can be more free of the defensive burden of center. I'm hoping (as we all are) that Ruff can turn Cozens in the the two-way center we all know he can be. I think he will benefit the most from Ruff's hiring. Either way, I bet the bottom six will see the most amount of experienced players added.

Listening to Adams' press conference yesterday afternoon I don't think they go Appert or anyone that hasn't coached in the NHL. All the buzz right after from the local guys made it seem like Appert for sure, but if Adams is putting his money where his mouth is, it will be a former/current NHL guy.

Sadly, I could see it. It is a textbook Pegula move. One of my coworkers just mentioned Peca as an option. It would check several boxes except experience and urgency.

Very good point. Ruff and Brind'Amour would be bigger moves (although I don't think Ruff would cost much), but I am going to set myself up for Appert or Ellis.

Bitter-sweet. They plateaued, but you're spot on that he developed a lot of the players they needed developed.
I think Ruff will get all of the buzz from the fanbase and if Carolina doesn't do well, I can see people connecting Brind'Amour with Adams, but they need something different.

Agreed. Adams is very calculated and cautious. The only way I can see him make a big, aggressive move is if he feels his back is against the wall, which I hope it is.

They're both superstars in my eyes, and I would love to have a Tkachuk because they are just relentless. Brady could very well take a leap like Matthew. I just think that they desperately need a certain type of player and if you can get that type of player (gritty, hits, nasty) AND they can score 30+ goals and 30+ assists ... I would clearly pay a hefty price for that.

We have guys that can be 100-point players, but we don't have anyone with Brady's skillset. It is definitely a ton to give up, but Brady still scores 30+ a year and is a big, mean, nasty power forward that we just don't have. He is what this team needs and I would be willing to overpay to get some of that in here (obviously).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Nice job Mac
These are actually REASONABLE MOVES the Sabres could & should make
Gonna have to give up more for Sturm, as there’s no reason for SJ to move him or give him away- maybe a 2nd does the trick?
Or maybe they’d take a lower pick if they like one of our prospects like Kisakov, etc etc?
No way to know- just guessing there - but I’m sure we could figure out the right value
DeMelo also makes a lot of sense for us
Maybe we gotta pay him a bit more to get him to come here though?
But I’d be alright with doing that- he’s EXACTLY what we need
Reimer also make perfect sense as a Vet backup
Nice job dude
Better than 99% of the other Sabres ACGMs on here,
which are generally just unrealistic or excuses for fans to just whine & complain</div></div>
Thank you very much! It isn't sexy, but I feel like they will address things with some more proven veterans. Anytime I do an ACGM with a ton of trades or acquiring a big-named player like Pettersson or Tkachuk, I know it is extremely unrealistic, but I like to dream.
I agree with the Sturm part - I wasn't sure his evaluation, but I would be fine giving up a 2nd. Get someone that continues to help your bottom six, but provides upside.
I read some of your comments below and I am with you on the back and forth with Roy and DeMelo. I don't think you can go wrong either way, and I think it is about finding a long-term partner for Power to help him really step into the player he is supposed to be. I would be okay with moving Samuelsson as well. I think Johnson will be a very good bottom-pairing defensemen for his career with potential to play in the top four, but I really think Novikov is going to be something. He would have gone higher in his draft year if there weren't questions about him being able to come here. Scott Wheeler ranked him as the Sabres 7th best prospect, ahead of guys like Johnson, Strbak, and McCarthy, which is amazing. I think he will be the ying to Johnson's yang on the bottom pairing, despite both being LHD.
