Very easy no for the Avs even though I'm not all that high on Mitts so far. They didn't trade Byram to get a 2C to then give him to MTL for parts they don't need.

... The missing piece to get Montreal from bottom 5 to the playoffs is Casey Mittelstadt?

Parts they don't need... Who is going to replace Erik Johnson ? You get a a good young D-Men with upside and a 1 first round pick in 2025 plus a 3 rd pick. I guess it is fair deal but you have the right to decline.

The Avs can and will afford Mittlestadt, if they have to move cap space they will but Mittlestadt is a an absolute lock to be re-signed. And yes @TJTwolf is right COL could care less about a pick a year from now and Harris when they have Malinski, Behrens and Gulyayev to recreate the hole hole they traded Byram for. So yeah easy as 1+1=2.

Considering they let Erik Johnson sign with BUF last season I don’t think they are too worried about it. They have Malinski who was great with Avs when he played and the only reason he didn’t stick was he was waiver exempt. They just got Behrens signed, and if you meant Jack Johnson hell they can just re-sign him again on a 1yr league minimum deal, or bring back Jones. There is zero chance the Mittlestadt trade makes sense for COL or that they do it.

You're making 1+1=22 there. The Avs can and will afford Mitts. They didn't trade Byram for him to let him walk of that you can be sure, and yes, a 1st round pick is a part that does nothing for a team competing now when offered for its 2C. (It isn't even this year and a 3rd again is just a part). The position that was a gaping hole they just filled. Harris? A 3rd pair D on the Avs and the Avs have plenty of youngsters coming through to fill in there. Easy decline.

Firstly there's no guarantee he even asks for, or gets, 6.5m per. What he wanted in Buffalo vs what he wants in Denver may be two completely different things. Secondly the Avs only need to trade one guy, most likely (Girard, Manson or Colton) IF Landy comes back. If he doesn't then they don't need to move anybody.

EJ has already been replaced. He wasn't there this year. If you mean JJ then they could just re-sign him or Jones or any league min vet D who wants a shot at a cup. Those parts have zero value to a contender when weighed against a 2C that they traded a very good young D for to fill a hole that had been a problem for over a year. Harris is a third pair D on the Avs, and the Avs have plenty of young LHD ready to come in or will be very soon. Or, again, re-sign JJ, re-sign Jones, or sign a cheap vet D who wants a cup shot. A first rounder a year out and a third this year have no value to the Avs as a contender when weighted against there being a big hole at 2C again.

Dont try. Their excuses are laughable.
SO YEAH EASY...
They will put Landy on LTIR to start 2024 and they are fine.
What about 2025-26 when Mitts contract is still a problem. Landy wont be on LTIR again?

What is difficult to understand you are the one doing math? Landeskog doesn’t come back it’s really easy, he comes back they have to some sacrifice elsewhere, for convenience sake they move Colton. There are literally 10’s of ACGM’s showing how it’s possible you can’t be that easily confused.

Seriously is it difficult to understand they will move other people if they have to to fit Mittlestadt? If it comes to it they would move Girard, they could move Colton, they could move Georgiev. So hard to understand that COL is moving to a roster where the bottom 6 and 3rd pairing are guys not making a lot? Yeah nobody can explain it. 🤦🏻‍♂️
