They 100% won’t be able to do anything at the soonest until November. The only real thing that will be telling is if the team spends his salary on others he is a goner.

Moving down in 1st round
Why would COL want Marino at all? COL is never doing that.
There is some crack being smoked in Jersey if you think Marino is worth Manson and a 1st and yeah Colton was literally just traded for a 2nd the 1st pick in the 2nd round not one a year away.

That would be high to have massive dead cap for the next decade. I mean forgetting the fact you can’t buy out either injured players or suspended players and if Landy can’t play they just get all of his cap space via LTIR

Mittlestadt is by far and away the most valuable piece, COL trades their 2c and 3C away ripping a hole in their lineup NJ trades a back up goalie, a middle 6 winger and 1st and gets back one of the best 3c’s, a top pairing dman and a 1A/b goalie. Cup contenders don’t trade their 2 and 3C for menagerie of maybe. Woof. You have way overrated everybody in the NJ portion and massively underrated Mittlestadt, Brodin and Colton

Bro no they didn’t. Big down grade at 2c, traded their 3C who is one of the better 3c’s in the league for a maybe middle 6 winger and a 3rd pairing dman. Who cares about $8m in cap space when you rip open the center of the team and who even knows if they may have $13M more in space at the start of the season. They get hosed

COL gets so hosed in this deal. They give up a 2c, which they desperately need who had a 59pt season, a 3C who had 40pts and get back a 40pt a guy a 28pt winger and a 3rd pairing dman. Mittlestadt is far and away the most valuable piece in the trade and there is zero chance COL even considers it.

I don’t think Nichushkin is violation of his suspension because it isn’t a professional league. That’s an optimistic return on Manson, and ANA assuredly matches that for Lacombe

What do the avs do Pt 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>It's one thing to believe that the person has become too much of a liability (even if he is talented and helps them win games) and another to think they can just get rid of him easily. We can believe they "can't afford" to bring him back while also acknowledging they can't afford to get rid of the contract (buyout or trade). I'm sure they'll try to find a way out of the contract but it may truly be the case that they are stuck with him. In the meantime, at this point at least, it isn't realistic to plan for him not being on the team and having his cap hit to use. It's sucks but this really is an "it is what it is" situation until we hear otherwise.</div></div>
I think you will know by September what they think if they use his cap space it will be very telling.

Oh I don’t think they one sided void it but I do think that with the help of WalMart lawyers who is the largest private employer in the world they come to some sort of mutual termination. But come on they have now burned the 2 best seasons in MacK HOF career because in large part because of the guys problems. No same manager/owner 1) trusts an employee who has acted in such a way multiple times and 2) thinks it’s a good idea to tell a high performing team that hey we are going to give the guy not a second chance not a third chance but like a fourth chance. I like him a lot and think he is a massively talented player but can you really afford to bring him back again? I don’t think so.

Mittlestadt is definitely not signing that contract. Colton in the basic time space signed a 4x4 after having 32 and 39 pt seasons, Mittlestadt just had 59 and 57 pt seasons not a prayer he signs it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Well, there's a big difference between what it is he needs versus what is possible under the CBA. He's in the program so terminating the contract seems extremely unlikely. If he gets to level 4, that becomes more of a realistic option but there doesn't seem to be a mechanism that would allow them to void his deal. I would be shocked if they successfully argued for termination.</div></div>
Given his last year do you really think he makes it to reinstatement? I mean I just saw on Twitter he is going to play in some Russian media hockey league, given he tested positive about a month ago is playing hockey in Russia what someone with an addiction needs to be doing?

What do the avs do Pt 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>It's going to take some healing but the numbers don't lie: the Avs are a LOT better when Nuke plays so, if he can come back and be productive while the Avs win games, most of his transgressions will be forgiven (although not likely forgotten). Will they always be waiting for the other shoe to drop? You bet but, in reality, they really don't have much of a choice. The Avs hitched their wagon to these players and will have to live with those choices; might as well try to make the best of it and try to win a few more Cups before they hit the inevitable decline.</div></div>
I am willing to bet you a beer he has played his last game as an Avs. Assuming he gets reinstated, which is a big if, if not a huge if at this point, I bet they press for a contract termination. They have clearly tried to help him, maybe to his detriment, with what happened in Seattle and the subsequent multiple drug test failures. You just can’t count on him. The only way I could see it maybe happening is he sits out for at least a year and is clean with random and scheduled tests, but ultimately he just needs to get better for himself and his family.

This this this! His inability to control himself led to him leaving the team high and dry in peak MacKinnon years at the most crucial time of year. Just watching them dazed in game 4 and going from the best team at home to losing all 3 games against DAL. Was that the only reason, no, but you can’t look MacKinnon and Makar in the face and say hey we are going to bring him back AGAIN and hope for a different outcome.

Just the major trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>I don't think the celly would be an issue other than with fans, and I look at it more as a replica of Kane with it being OT, though I'm surprised the media didn't make more out of it. Doubt the locker room is an issue. Only 3 guys left from back then (including Landy). Nate probably wouldn't care if he thinks it would help them win. Mikko was barely out of his rookie season and Gabe is still mates with Dutchy and they've been on hols together. Can't see Sakic having an axe to grind as a former player. Doesn't seem the type to hold that kind of grudge and as a former player would get how it works, but it could be on him as per his remarks about Lindros. As for the RyJo angle, maybe they thought he was a better fit, maybe they hadn't decided to buy out Dutchy at that point (can't remember the timeline), or maybe Dutchy didn't want to return to the Avs. Who knows? Of course the latter nixes it anyway were that the case.
I'd agree Mitts is prioritised over Drouin in reality but the sum of the parts is better than Mitts imo here. I haven't said he HAS priced himself out. I'm saying he COULD if he asks silly money the Avs are reluctant to pay and tbh I personally wouldn't want to pay him the money some are talking on here.
Not sure what you mean about Kovalenko? If you mean the Euro clause that was last year only. He can be sent down just like anyone else otherwise as far as I'm aware.
And yes it's kinda tongue in cheek but more an exercise in keeping the roster competitive, showing it can be done, managing the cap and illustrating that 'in extremis' things aren't even that bad for the Avs.</div></div>
Just speculation on my part but I 100% think there is something personal with Duchene whether it be the front office because his presence precipitated directly or indirectly how they handled ROR and Statsny or the fact that when he left all the sudden MacKinnon is a super star because I can’t think of a single reason on ice that you would pick RyJo over Duchene if there were no issues.

So when COL traded for RyJo I am sure they could have gotten Duchene for a similar price, ie nothing, and for whatever reason, probably the locker room, they didn’t. Duchene seems like a nice guy away from hockey but his penchant for cup winning celebrations when he scores against the Avs is probably not well received. Mittlestadt hasn’t priced himself out of COL, if they need cap space they will move guys as needed they didn’t trade Byram to rent the guy for the stretch run and let’s be honest Drouin won’t get priority over him. Oh and one other thing there is no sending Kovalenko down he has an out in contract. That all being said I know this was entirely tongue in cheek.
