Carolina can have Brannstrom for the equivalent of a 2nd round pick.

Jesper Fast can't be traded until January 1st.

Trades aside, this roster would be an interesting experiment in whether the Canes defense is due to player or due to scheme.

A player with 1 yr left in his career, a washed Kuznetsov, and a late 1st round pick? No thanks

For 1 year of Marner, and Leafs get a solution at RD they haven't had in years, and, what 5 mill in cap relief?

I'd rather have Marner. No reason for us to make that trade

It drastically improves your back end, and it opens up a ton of cap space to find a netminder. Plus, Burns shows up in the postseason. Declining it is fine, but this is as helpful an offer for Marner as the Leafs will get.

Leafs are going to want impact players with term on their contract + cap space. Burns has no term and Kuzy is basically a salary dump. It's not a logical trade and there will 100% be a better offer than this

Marner doesn't have that kind of value. He's overpaid and ghosts in the playoffs. Without an extension, no WAY Marner nets that kind of return, especially because his NMC basically bends the Leafs over a barrel

So you're admitting that your proposal was terrible?

So you're admitting you can't read? Marner isn't going to get a core D man with term while he's a rental, he's just not. This is the best kind of offer the Leafs will get LMFAO
