Is this fair value
I think the buyout cost of Korpi is tolerable enough for the Sens to consider a buyout before moving a high pick to offload the contract. Especially with how expensive goalies will be this off season and the lack of bona-fide #1s in FA.

No worries haha. I just got slapped in the face by Father Time is all. I'm only 30 and am bewildered at where all these new terms are coming from.
Also, I agree. OP crushed it but that isn't surprising since Boodin is one of the five or six respectable OTT fans on the site (yourself and csick being two of the others, of course).

Likely Norris; with his shoulder injuries it would be better if he didn't have to do draws.
Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
????/Norris - Pinto - Batherson
????/Norris - Greig - Joseph
Kelly - Ostapchuk - ????
Sanderson - Zub
Chabot - ????

Korpisalo
???? / Sogaard
The lines you posted for VAN look great too, except Chychrun would be horrible on the right of Hughes. Hughes needs someone he can trust so he can go join the play and Chychrun is not that. Would make VAN so much worse and would drag Hughes down.

Think about if someone made a similar offer for Petey or Miller; would you think it is a ridiculous underpay? While Petey is better than Tkachuk and can play C, Tkachuk carries that much value to OTT. If you wouldn't do it for Petey, chances are OTT wouldn't do it for Tkachuk.

Zub would be the perfect D partner for Hughes. Unfortunately, he is also the perfect D partner for Sanderson and OTT called dibs. I don't think VAN would want to pay what it would cost to get him (and honestly, nor should they). Zub is a stud and OTT would want the moon and stars; crippling VAN for years and empty their cupboards.

Why would either team really do this? VAN doesn't need the centre depth at all. Pinto would end up buried behind Petey and Miller, unless the plan is to stack the first line? I'd say they need a better LW more than they'd need Pinto.

Hoglander - Miller - Bains? Karlsson? Someone??

Small Retool
This is a lot of quantity, no quality. Nothing in that trade makes any sense for OTT. A AHL/ECHL goalie, 7th D, and 3rd pairing LD is not necessary whatsoever and is not close to the value of a top-4 defenseman; even with the 2nd and 3rd added (especially with the 3rd so far out). If PIT wants Chychrun, it would likely take PIT's 1st (this year or next) plus a minor prospect / a 2nd or something. Or maybe a middle-6 forward (Bunting?) plus picks /prospects if there is an unwillingness to part with the 1st.

Big Bad Bruins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>koofyslappa</b></div><div>Would you say that’s a fair price for him or nah?</div></div>
No, I wouldn't say that's a fair price for Tkachuk. His intangibles made him OTT's captain for a reason and he's one of the best power forwards in the game. Ullmark and Lysell fill needs for OTT, bit it would need to have more single item quality rather than quantity to reach the value of Tkachuk. It would also signal the death knell of the current rebuild attempt and set them back years, meaning Ullmark is wholly irrelevant to them and the only thing of value is Lysell since, let's be real, DiPietro isn't worth much.

Norris is a fine player but his health is a big question mark and Boston probably asks for Batherson in the deal.</div></div>
That interdivional overpay would be what the Sens would want for Norris too, to be fair. I can't see them trading Batherson; we're already thin on RW as is. If BOS isn't interested in Norris for Ullmark (or perhaps BOS 2024 1ST), then I don't think there's any chance of a trade here.

While nobody can know for sure what the org thinks, Athrin is not alone in not wanting EK65 back. He would absolutely hurt the team with his cap hit. This trade would be disastrous for OTT.

Treliving did the Reaves and Kadri signings, right? Those two alone puts him lower in my eyes. I recognize the Tkachuk deal was, at the time, a home run of a trade but his Free Agency just isn't where it should be in my mind.
Biased against TOR though, to be fair!
Edit: fixed auto correct typo

There may be less overpays since he's now in Toronto and it's a place folks <em>actually</em> want to live lol.

What is Marners Value
I'm actually pretty surprised there hasn't been more name calling considering the thread topic lol. With the one obvious exception, this has been a good discussion thread.
I keep seeing a lot of articles on this, all of which say the challenge of Marner's contract and his agent recommendations will likely hurt his value. That being said, I could see fringe playoff teams needing starpower being open to trading for him. Seattle, for example, may be interested and offer Wright, Larsson, and a first. At least, that's what I recall a sportnet writer suggesting.

I don't think OTT would accept this. This barely saves them cap over buying out Korpi, which they would prefer to giving up a 2nd rounder to a divisional rival.

Folks, again, this was more meant for a conversation piece rather than a realistic trade offer. Showing how MIN could fit Chychrun in for 50% retained and still address other gaps. I put that in the description, but that's on me for thinking people would read that, haha.
Throw in an additional pick or prospect if you'd like this to be more balanced. All I was focused on was making the money work and covering gaps while also not blocking next year.
