The problem is Trouba is way overpaid to be not so great defensively and to be a complete loser who takes headshots at people.
The whole "trotz player" thing has been tossed out the window the moment he got here because he wants to make Nashville a more skilled, offensive team

Canucks have the better goaltending and better number 1 dman but not better defense overall. Miller and Boeser are better than Jarvis and Teuvo yes (Miller > Jarvis > Boeser > Teuvo in that order). Aho also has significantly better linemates compared to Pettersson. Svech, Teravainen, Guentzel and Jarvis or Mikheyev, Hoglander, Boeser, and Kuzmenko?</div></div>

Fine, how about counting stats, Zegras career production is 0.73 pts/game, Necas despite being two years older, played 150 more games, and on a better team, is only 0.67 pts/game. Maybe bother to back your arguments up in the same sentence you wave off someone else's, it just makes you look silly.
You don't get a 23 year old top line talent without paying for them, you don't seem to get that.</div></div>

If we're comparing the two players over the last 3 seasons (it's the most reliable sample size).. Necas slams Zegras is almost every micro stat.

He's no worse than Necas defensively, and his Corsi and Fenwick compared to Necas are <strong>WORLDS</strong> apart, on top of superior production over his career.
Nashville may have the best 4-13 guys in the league, but they've got the absolute worst top 3, they need an injection of talent, and since they can't seem to develop forwards worth a damn, may as well buy one who can already produce and improve his off puck play.</div></div>
You're going to be extremely shocked when he becomes a winger because McTavish and Leo are actually competent defensively and Zegras isn't lol

That Narrative exists because he sucks at defense.

Corsi and Fenwick are unreliable. If you look at their career defensive metrics Necas is much better. Zegs has never been good defensively.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Nashville may have the best 4-13 guys in the league, but they've got the absolute worst top 3, they need an injection of talent, and since they can't seem to develop forwards worth a damn, may as well buy one who can already produce and improve his off puck play.</div></div>
Would rather target a legitimate center.
You're parading around the forums pricing Zegras unreasonably high. No thanks. Another soft winger who sucks defensively isn't an organizational need.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AEcho</b></div><div>The only thing Zegras has over Necas at this point for me is that Zegras has actually been played at center as where Necas really hasn't. To me it gives me more hope that Zegras could get better considering he is 2 years younger than Necas, and I still like Zegras as a playmaker, but I'm actually suprised at how bad he is there. I hadn't realized just how bad he is in the dot, and it would be better just running Novak there instead. Definitely lowers my stock on him, but I still see potential there, and I think Zegras would be easier to acquire than Necas since CAR is looking for now pieces that NSH is less likely to part with</div></div>
Thats the thing. Novak also sucks defensively and can't win draws. We don't need another of him
If we have to pay a premium for a center, do it for an <em>ACTUAL</em> center. Zegs just isn't a center in my eyes. Would be better suited on the wing.
He might end up being just that with McTavish and Leo as a 1-2

Necas, at his best, can play slightly above replacement level defensively. He just had a down year. Zegras is non existent in his own end.
Both players suck in the dot. But if I'm trading for Zegras I'd rather just play him on the wing. If I had to play either in the dot, I'd take Necas.

I'd rather not have Novak play center again if we can help it and while Svechkov has been really good in his first season in MKE, I don't know if he is ready for second line minutes. Zegras has been a piece who could fit really well, and think he is worth paying up for.
If training camp rolls around and he is ready, then I completely agree, through that package at Necas, I just don't think he is ready as I don't know the likelihood of landing Lindholm or Stephenson as a 2C for next year</div></div>
Zegras can't play center either, if we're being honest. The same issues with defense that Necas has are 10x worse with Zegras.
Zegras is also terrible in the dot.
