What if some surprise at 2
The Hawks aren't going to take a left-handed defenseman at #2. Alex Vlasic a legitimate top pairing defenseman at age 21 last year, Kevin Korchinski is still a great prospect and was the youngest defenseman in the league last season, and each of Wyatt Kaiser, Ethan Del Mastro, and Nolan Allen are still promising.

13. Sam Dickinson
Buium and Dickinson would be amazing picks there...both guys should go well before Yakemchuk.

gotta go with Dickinson here imo, top pair dman is def the more interesting option here as Seattle doesnt have any top pairing prospect in their system

? Montreal’s not passing on Catton, some of the RD’s, even Tij would be better than massively reaching on Boisvert

MTL aren't that crazy... Slaf was ranked 2 (and even 1) by draft day, so that's max a 1 spot reach. Reinbacher was ranked 8ish (I had him 6) went 5th, so that's a 3-spot reach. They aren't going too crazy with these picks

1st round
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kraken</b></div><div>A few suggestions:
</div></div>
Thanks for the feedback. Of course this is highly subjective and everyone will have very different evaluations. But I'll explain my logic on those picks:
Habs: Eiserman, because I think their greatest need is a left shot scorer. And he has such a sturdy build and I like the development path of NTDP into college for him. So I think it's a very safe pick compared to someone like Catton whose dynamic playstyle will be much harder to translate to the NHL, especially at his size and with the limited options he has in terms of league to play in in the next 2 years. It's like Cutter Gauthier compared to Matt Savoie.
Flames: O'boy they sure are depressing to look at. The typical route for teams like them that need everything is to build defense>center>wing. But defense is their least bad position, both in their roster and prospect pool. And if they pick Silayev then they wont be able sell a ticket in the upcoming years. So Catton is someone with high upside, by far the most likely of the remaining players to become a 1C, and super exciting to watch. So even if they'll suck, as what's left of their core approaches an average age of 35, at least they'll have an exciting young player to watch. As to Iginla and Helenius, I just don't think they have anywhere close to the potential of Catton, and Calgary isn't in a position to make lower risk / lower reward picks like that.
Devils: I guess the disagreement here is just whether or not Eiserman will be available at 10. I just think the public scouts are having an overreaction because his development haven't been as good as hoped. Last year he was considered 1st/2nd in this draft class by most public scouts. Maybe the pressure got to him, and he's just been squeezing his stick too hard. He's one of the youngest in the draft class and is going to a great college program, so I think the concerns of him not having rounded out his game this year are greatly overblown.
Sabres: 2 months ago I would've been all ears for Yakemchuk. But since adding Byram I just think they are too stocked up on offensively gifted, young defensemen to pick another one. It's always good to have talent in the pipeline though. But for that purpose I'd prefer Jiricek over Yakemchuk. I think he has more talent and has a lot more physical development left in him. So if one were to simmer in WHL/Europe/AHL for 4 or so years then I think Jiricek is the better player at the end of it. As to why Greentree, I think he has a toolkit that is sorely needed on the Sabres: the ability and willingness to absorb contact and maintaining the ability to make plays during contact, a Draisatl type. They don't have anyone like that, which makes it so hard for them to get through structured defenses.

#48 overall pick in 2020 ..... versus ..... #27 overall pick in 2020 who actually played a NHL game before, who is also from Montreal and is the son of a former Habs player
That's a win for Montreal in my book.

Seattle Kraken signed Pierre-Édouard Bellemare (1 Year / $775,000 AAV)
Bellemare's faceoff ability will be useful on a team that struggles in that department. He's probably here as center depth after the departure of Geekie, and to provide cover in case Wright needs more development time. If Wright is ready, the Kraken can scratch or waive Bellemare without issue.

Seattle Kraken signed Kailer Yamamoto (1 Year / $1,500,000 AAV)
I remember there were a lot of Yamamoto to Seattle trades proposed on ACGM, and I didn’t understand them as Seattle didn’t have space in the forward corps and his cap hit of $3.1M was rich for a guy who would be a fourth liner with the Kraken. But with Sprong’s departure from Seattle and Yamamoto being bought out of his previous contract, he now makes sense as a low risk, high reward addition to the team. He’ll still be a fourth liner here, but the fit might be better with Yamamoto in that role as opposed to Sprong since Yamamoto’s a much more sound defender. Hopefully he can recapture the scoring promise he showed in years past and become an impactful contributor on both ends for the Kraken.

Montreal: Acquire a top 9 forward who will fit right into their core group. Young with lots of potential.
Colorado: Trade a Young Player who doesn't have a spot on their roster for more futures that will likely end up being flipped in the short term for more win now assets.
Fair trade

(EDM/CAR) - Puljujärvi for Puistola
Edmonton - Clear 3M of "dead cap" and pick up a decent prospect with NHL upside who's looked great in Liiga this year.
Carolina - Trade a prospect from their tree of wealth in exchange for a struggling FINN with potential. Don't think picking up his full cap was a smart move, but they reunite Poolparty with his WJC Gold Medal comrade
Edmonton W, but could possibly become an even trade.

One can but one has to show the appropriate acknowledgement, willingness to accept fault, accept the punishment, and prove to themselves and necessary/appropriate others that they can and are changing via the appropriate work and rehabilitation.
I am no special arbiter but I haven't seen that. Above and beyond all else, everything I've seen has been about him out of his mouth.

Final Final Final Mock Draft
As a Sabres fan I'd really like Savoie, Miroshnichenko and Chesley in the first round as it not only adds a ton of talent up front while filling a hole at RHD, it also opens up an array of possibilities at 41. Havelid is good and Salamonson would also be good there but in a matter of personal preference, I'm leaning more towards Noah Warren or Julian Lutz in that spot.
No biggie as I think that's as good as any 1st round mock I've seen to date.
